Default Building h22 turbo, compression/headwork/piston questions inside....

Want to build a motor with Benson sleeves Earl gave me some insight and now I have some quesitons for u guys.
Ok so I've decided on a setup that includes:

Benson sleeves 89mm bore
9:1 compression CP pistons
Eagle Rods already from NA setup (these good for about 500whp?)
1mm oversize valves
LoveFabs manifold

Questions:
Opening up combusiton chamber to 89mm would lower compression by how much?
1mm oversize valves won't intefere with each other with stock cams?
And what kinda turbo would u match this setup with? (yes Power is good)

Your questions and comments are appreciated as I have just started research on turbocharging my car. Thx in advance

we bored my block to 89mm, but we only brought out the valves through desrhouding to 89mm. We milled the head back 10 thou to account for that. I can post the pocs if you want.

You'll actually have to cc the cylinder head yourself, depending on how much they take off it changes everything,

pics are always great...thanx for the response.
Wanted to ask u Joel I'm also looking for an H22a4 complete bottom and head but nothing else(no ecu or anything) so if u find one around the area for a really good price pls keep me in mind.

Anyone have ideas on valves? .5mm over maybe?Since bore will be going up to 89mm.

My friend Emilio is selling a longblock on TPC, currently not assembled...but the head is milled a lot... http://www.hondaprelude.to/for...34060

Here's the pics of my head...dirty but it's easier to see where all the material was taken off.

the third pic clearly shows how the valves come out.

I would cc the entire chamber as in #1 at TDC use ATF or something and fill till the fluid is at the top of the plug hole, then use MatLab or something to calculate compression...... i think YOU ALL will be suprised, I know I was, and I know just about no one on here does this......

You'll need a hell of a lot more to hit 400 let alon 500

a good motor is a good start thou...... get some pauter rods if u have money

thx for the info satan....e-mail sent
well I'm thinking of a good size turbo to mate with this setup... Any suggestions? I was thinking of going pretty big like a gt35... my mechanic is making about 500 to the wheels at only 12 pounds on a 1st gen bored DSM motor.

well lets see...mostly street use but like most of us, I'd like the best of both worlds in terms of more power for the track. Looking for between 350-400whp on pump gas if possible? Maybe running higher boost at the track on c16. Spool time is fairly important for the street. Will a bigger bore not allow me to match up a bigger turbo? Or am I completely wrong here. Ur answers are appreciated as I'm just starting my research. Don't know much in terms of turbo tech.

how did ur fuel system hold up? any drops in pressure running with just the one 255lph pump? And where do u spool with the SC61?thx

You won't get 400 on pump gas 350 for that matter probably it'll start missing around there....... the H motors aren't effiecent, unless you have an amazing tuneup and great spark........

400 on c16, with alot of time and experince behind you and more money, you can hit it most likely

ya theres no way I would be doing this myself. I have a great tuner here with tons of experience.
His b18 civic hit 521whp on C16( http://www.tappauto.com/page.cfm?id=7 ) not long ago. I plan to have a similar setup to his, spark being an issue with H22s I'll be running an individual coil setup.

Heres another one..just wanna get ur feedback on this. I keep hearing that closed deck is a better option for turbocharged H's however after e-mailing Earl (the sleeving guru) this was his reply:

Hi Marc,
Of the two blocks, the open deck H22 is the block of choice. The closed deck cannot handle as strong a sleeve as the open deck and head gaskets hold better with the open deck....

WOW! Contrary to everything I've been told... And it makes sense, the Darton sleeves they use look much beefier for the A4 block. whats ur take on this?

Well at least you have a hell of a tuner, if he's makin that power

As for the whole open/closed deck, I'm still up in the air, I've seen closed deck motors make huge power when open decks break down........ of course in my motor, i'm stuck with closed, which is what i prefer anyway......... depending on how the sleeve is removed, you can run equally as thick sleeves

My fuel system holds up great. I am looking at running a bigger fuel pump in the future...

Check out my set-up for more info:

You should be able to tell from the dyno sheet the turbo spools right around 4k rpms and from there just takes off. The turbo will be pushing another 8psi in the near future.
