Yup, w/out that pin, your VTEC won't engage. Hit up the dealer, or anyone with a broke VTEC head that can hook you up.

i don't understand what pin you're talking about.. that shaft or whatever it is, is sticking out the side of the head about 2 mm... where as on my friends head, that shaft thing is inside the head about an inch...

In that link you have, the pen is pointing directly at it. It sits right in the middle of the head, little metal shaft.

that little shaft that is sticking out 2mm or so, is what hold your rocker arms inside your head. There are two little dowl pins that push through the top of the head and into a slot in that shaft. The two pins are on the cam gear side, make sure they're in there, they are the only thing that holds that shaft from sliding around.....heres a pic of the pins....

Hope that helps. And if your head has never been pulled off or messed with, maybe one of the pins broke or something....That is the only thing I can think of that would cause that shaft to stick out.

EDIT: I just pulled my vtec solenoid off to see how far in there my shaft sits and it probably about 3/4 to 1 inch inside the hole.

Well for some reason he deleted all his text. He pulled the vtec solenoid out and he noticed that that shaft was sticking out. The pins that he needs are pointed out in my pics

Does that pin on the picture you posted on the exhaust cam come right out? I'm having trouble taking it out. How do I make the shaft go back in? Just take the pin out and push the shaft in with my finger? or is there a technique?
