Finally installed my B&M Short Shifter
installed it along with the polyurethane bushings made by Energy Suspension. Finally can get my tires to chirp consistently so I believe I'm shifting faster with the short shifter. (I know people say you can shift just as fast without the SS, but I guess I didn't)
Install took 2-3 hours because I kept taking food breaks and even took a nap. Nothing really hard about the install but just time consuming since it was my first time installing a short shifter.
Impression: I shift a bit faster now than before. Definitely feel better than stock. Love the shorter height of the shifter, although you would need to reach out more than before since the B&M shifter has no bends and is just straight.
Only Problem I have is that my shifter seems to be rattling on the heatshield. I don't see anyway of bending the heatshield since there's hardly any room for it to bend. I guess I got to get new rubber hangers? (unless someone can suggest something else, i would highly thank u)
I'll upload the pic of how high my shifter sits in a bit.

You'll like the shifter alot. You can bend the heat shield, trust me. It's a common problem with short shifters. I bent mine a few times and eventually it just stopped rattling.

hi! plz take pics of where you think its rattling!
mine rattles, but I've checked my heatshield and there seems to be a good gap between the shifter and heatshield.. soI dont see how it could rattle.
i'd like to see how yours is setup tho!
thanks.

Yea mines has a gap between the shifter and the heatshield and it still rattles. However mines only rattle when I shift on gears beyond 3. I had my friend shift my gears while I was under the car and realized that even though there's a gap during neutral, when you shift to (say 5), the bottom of the shifter will hit the heatshield.
ill try and take pics soon. stuck in dorms right now while my car is at home.

Just bend that heat shield out of the way.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I was wondering how would I bend the shield? Do I need to remove the midsection or just use a hammer and smack it against the exhaust to bend it?
lol i got a headrush from being under car too long so i took a nap

heh,
I dont think mines the heatshield.
it rattles in every gear, including neutral, reguardless of shifting.
basically, it rattles because when I was getting the shifter, I told ppl it wasnt going to rattle... so now it does... for no other reason than to spite me
how sweet
