Default 97 JDM ITR into 93 VX... wiring problems? HELP

Awwww junk.... I hate this wiring crap.

What is the best way to do this swap? I have the complete swap with the ECU and Distrubutor. Do I change the thing to OBDII wiring or do I go to OBDI wiring?

Please advise, need to get this thing running ASAP!

Thanks in advance!

John

If you could get a complete engine wiring harness from a vtec 96-98 civic or obdII gsr you could use that to plug into the stockobdI underdash harness and use an ecu jumper from kenji for your itr ecu and call it a day. Other wise you could get an ecu jumber and convert the obdII ecu to obdI plugins and add only 1-2 wires on the stock civic harness and also call it a day.

Default stick with OBD1...

its your best bet.
I believe you can reuse your VX engine harness, since you have VTEC already. Or get a hold of an Si/EX engine harness.

Try and sell the ITR distributor or trade it for a B-series OBD1 distributor - do the same with the ECU also. If you can, go with a 92-95 Si/EX ECU aka P28 and have it reprogrammed - it will run better than a ITR ECU, even better once it's tuned.

This will make everything plug n' play.....then you won't have to deal with wasting your $$ on an ECU jumper which will only allow you to run the unchippable ITR ECU. (well it is chippable..but mucho deniro!)

good luck...

Default oh yah..woops!

ha..forgot about them injectors...He'll have to get some OBD1 B-series injectors also....he shouldnt have a problem trading/selling his ITR inj.

Yes..the alternator plug is square rather than round on the obd2 alt. plug, he'll have to cut n' splice or trade/sell for an OBD1 alt.,

Hey, here is what I have done. Got a 96 GSR harness and plugged it in to the stock under dash harness. Now, do I run a chipped P28 or buy a jumper and run the ITR computer? Help oh wise Katman!

Thanks,

John

The absolute easiest way is to get a 96-01 integra GSR engine harness. It will plug right up. No wiring necessary. You might have to extend a couple wires, but nothing big. To use the ecu, you will need to get a harness converter. Or do like Katman said and get a mugen chipped p-28. That latter will run better anyways. His way of installing the engine with the old harness will work, but i think it will be easier to just find a 96+ GSR engine harness. Or even a 96+ integra LS harness and just wire the knock and vtec wires directly if you cant find a GSR harness.
