Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown?
With all this header talk and especially with my interest in purchasing a new header for my personal civic I would like to offer our services for the Great Header Test. If any header manufacturers out there would like to be included in a definitive test using our in ground dyno please email me at James@TitanMotorsports.com. What i can offer to do is give true, unbiased dyno graphs and facts regarding the performance of the variety of headers on the market. All i simply need from you is the use of your header for 8-10 dyno pulls. I would guarantee that any items that you may send to us would be returned in the exact same condition as received and I can make all dyno graphs available to you for your use. All headers wil be given their fair shot at making the most power, I have my engine tuned to the max right now using my dc sports jdm 4-1 header so i know exactly how much power it is making with that setup, what i will do if you are involved in the showoff is put your header on my car, make 8-10 dyno runs tuning between each run to guarantee that your header will make the most possible power with my combination - this will be the most accurate way i see to compare the different headers on the market:
if interested please email me at James@TitanMotorsports.com - thanks
so far, here is who is in:
1. Comptech Race Header
2. Header Tech
3. 10-94.com
4. Vibrant
5. DTR
6. DC Sports
7. Weapon-R
8. Hytech

Too many variables to really make it fair in in my opinion. Plus, some are specifically made for 1.8`s, 2.0, etc. Also, the tuner and his experience with a particular header, or lack there of, comes into play.

Re: Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown? (vtecvoodoo)
there will always be a million different variables in any test that is done - but it will be as fair of a comparison as possible - all headers would be given the advantage of being fully tuned with it in place so the max hp numbers and torque numbers will show as well as the curves to compare against others
the headers won't just be thrown on and made two passes with, i know all headers require different settings as far as cam timing, fuel pressure, etc - so that is why there will be 8-10 passes made on each header with proper tuning

Re: Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown? (ihaterice)
here is the engine setup that it would be tested on:
- '96 gsr block
- .025" overbore itr pistons
- type r head with oem 3 layer headgasket
- type r intake manifold with overbore throttle body
- itr exhaust cam
- jun type 2 intake cam
- thermal catback exhaust
- accel 255cc injectors
- chipped p28 ecu
- b&m fpr and gauge
what i think would be great about this test is that although i know there are many crazy 240 whp 2.0l setups out there this engine that i have is as simple as it gets and most likely what 80% of other board members either have in their cars now or can reasonably create
this would show who's header is the absolute best for the common people out there - they people that don't want to necessarily spend $900 on a header but when shown proven results would consider it and in turn would help you header manufacturers out there improve sales

Re: Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown? (TitanMotorsports.com)
sounds good but i think ppl have seen the first version of the great header test and we have moved onto bigger and better things. mainly a built 2L would b more interesting making a realistic 220WHP would b a better idea.

Re: Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown? (1 2 NV)
theres alot of different viable headers out there on the market that might not have been avalible at the time if the old header test.
i do agree a 2l header test is needed as well though but a 1.8 and a 2l woul dbe cool.

Re: Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown? (JCushing)
my feeling by using a 1.8l is that that is what the majority of people that might be searching for results to make a decision will actually have in their car, thus making it easier for them to make their decision, 1.8l's are a dime a dozen while the 2.0l engine are just now really starting to become popular and people are starting to use them in their street cars
if everyone is interested in using a 2.0l engine as well, i do have access to one so that is always a possibility

Since you guys are local, I'm down with this, got the from Comptech-USA just a minute ago.
I will dropped off a Comptech Race version of this header (actually, this one in particular, is my personal one).
Just let me know, however, I do see eyebrows being brought about the 2.0L, but how many 2.0L do you see on here, I see more 1.8L. Just me $.02 cents.

I used to have a setup like that, made nearly 185hp with a DC JDM header and a 2.5" mandrelbent from Kteller8.

Re: Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown? (BERT-O)
as the car sits right now with dc jdm 4-1 it has made 183 hp and 132 torque to give you an idea of what the baseline for the test is at

I would love to see this test as right now Im sitting at 188 whp and 130 TQ with a very simialar setup to yours also with a DC JDM 4-1. With proof of a 10-15 HP gain I would definatley ditch the DC.

that is what i am saying - i think you represent at least 80% if not more of the honda-tech members that go the all motor route so it would be a great to show the results on these setups

Re: Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown? (dwn-shift)
I would atleast like to see these headers tested, i think they are the ones that most everyone here would like to see:
DTR fab
Headertech
10-94 motorsports
Basically since these are the newer headers out and we all know that smsp headers work.

Re: Header this, Header that - Who is Down for the Definitive Showdown? (itec311)
i think this is a good idea..... here we have someone offering to do all the work dyno all the dif headers on the market and we need to take advantage of this. if i had a extra header id let you borrow one of mine but i dont...
i think this will give us a fair comparison of everything on the market

I would send my headertech header to you if the test motor was a bit more built up...
I want to see a 220-230whp headertest just like Ryan said...

I'd offer my jdm dc but you already have one.
