obd1 h22 in ek distributor problems
using this diagram
using ek dx harness modified for jdm obd1 h22a w/ obd1 ecu and sk2 conversion harness its still giving me the CYP code, I've already replaced the distributor with
a brand new one...NOT reman...
What could be causing the CYP code? the engine fires up, but idle is rough, but doesn't die. Could my ignition timing be retarded? timing belt skipped a few tooth while changing? Firing order off? Will shielded wire from the CYP sensor directly to the ecu solve this? please help me bring another h22ek to life& help save the rest of my hair from turning white!
Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks
P.S. the old distributor i replaced was still in working order, so anybody w/ info leading to the solution to my dilemma gets a free WORKING jdm obd1 internal coil dizzy w/new cap and rotor!

do you know how to set your engine at TDC? That would tell you whether you've skipped a tooth.
If you are using an OBD-I Distributor, you must be using an OBD-I ECU... Did you use a conversion harness? what brand?

If you say that all the parts are in good working order, then your wiring should be the problem. Recheck your wiring and if that is good, run the wires directly to the ECU or check them with a multimeter.
I hope that helps.

I would grab a digital multimeter, and verify the connection between the ORG wire, making sure it goes to the Yel wire, then verify that ORG wire goes to the B11 pinout at the ECU (*after the jumper harness*)
Also verify the WHT wire goes to the BLK wire, then leading to the B12 pinout after the jumper harness as well. Sounds like it's a simple wiring problem.

ya man... it has to be ur wiring somewhere..... run all them distributor wires straight to the ecu. thats what i have done. and i dont get cyp code or anything like that.
and if the wires u are messing with are supposed to be shielded, then try to shield them as much as possible, cause the interference can make things act funny.
shoot.. if ur gonna give that dist. away, ill take it. ill even pay u for it. i need one of those bad rite now.

problem fixed!!! its code free, turns out the cyp wires weren't going to B11 & B12
on me, but yea...thanks for all your help guys...will post pics of the hoopty soon
