I current have a 1.6 16 Valve Engine that not enough for me... If I were to swap out my engine for a B18 will i have to swap the tranny out too? I dont want to spend major money doing this convertion.. Whats the best thing for me to do?

Ps... I at least want to get in the high 15s with this car.

Yes, you will need to swap the tranny out too...
You will also need a shift linkage from a B...
and the motor mounts...

If you do a ZC swap you can use the tranny

just to be nice. This will have to be a complete swap. If you want tto use that car then you will need a mount kit as well as tranny wiring harness and a mount kit and all other swap necessities to make this work plus you will lose the 4wd. However, i am pretty sure you can swap a ZC motor in and still retain the 4wd system.

Why not try and do a CRV engine+tranny swap and try and retain the 4WD.

I don't think there was ever a B series 4WD tranny.... So based upon that, he can't have a B series 4WD Civic. Also, I don't know what all is involved in the 4WD shifter.... They use cables for the shift linkage to make way for the exhaust and driveshaft going down the middle of the car. I don't know if you can just pull the existing shifter, and put in a FWD shifter or what.

You can keep the 4WD by using a SOHC VTEC or the ZC, but the system wasn't designed for racing, or more horsepower for that matter. Do a search, there was a thread about the strength of the RealTime 4WD system a while back.

Will i be able to use my existing tranny, wiring harness, and mounts if I were to swap to a SOHC VTEC? What will i need from the SOHC VTEC to make the swap? I dont want to spend alot on this convertion. Is there gonna be a much difference in my 1/4 time..Will i be in the low 16s high 15s?

Also what year Civic is the ZC motor in? Is it a USDM or JDM? Will i need to swap trannys with this motor also?

swapping in a bseries isnt a problem youll lose the 4wd though. its not a direct bolt in compared to the 2wd models but its only a little bit of extra fab work. the tranny side mount sits about 1" higher on the tranny side so youll have to customize that mount. other mounts are the same. also youll need to cut a hole for the linkage as the 4wd is cable operated.

the tranny is pretty weak, not sure of the numbers but I've heard they really can't handle more than 170-180hp I would try a d16z and go from there. I would think it would be more of a hassle to go B-series

I think your best bet is going to be to skip the B-series swap (cost IS an issue, right?) and go with a simple ZC swap. It's about the cheapest swap around that'll give you an appreciable power boost (130hp). It should mate up fine to the AWD transmission. As far as I know, the ZC uses the stock mounts and wiring, too. It's a pretty straightforward bolt-in swap. ZCs are usually around $500 plus shipping, from any of the good importers. I helped install one in an '89 CRX Si, and there was no drama or unexpected surprises in that swap. Went right in, fired up, worked well... then the guy went and wrecked it!

Hehe. Nice. I'm going to go on a limb to be the resident smart @$$ here. Nope, never heard of a CAR called a honda CRV. I've heard of an SUV, though

Maybe you were thinking of the CRX ...hehe...

Onto the subject- I would say you should definently go with the ZC. Retaining your 4wd would be nice, and you can get some pretty decent power out of the ZC- especially if you boost that sucker. It's a cheap swap with fairly nice power output, why not?
