WOW, that is actually the first time I have seen those pistons. I had no idea they were that "domed" You learn something new everyday.

Keep us posted please! I am hopefully going the same route you are with the d16a6 rebuild this winter. I am very interested in seeing what you do. keep posting pics.
From what I understand those pistons fit but I'm curious to know if any modifications to the head is needed since they are domed. I know the dome is what makes them high compression but I still want to make sure.
Thanks

as far as i know those pistons will not interfere, although with the cam I'll be running i might have to retard it a few or get stiffer springs.
that is not a rebuild kit, parts were put together from various sources. rings, water and oil pump are all OEM Honda, pistons are Acura, headgasket is Z6 metal gasket, Hondata intake gasket, ARP headstuds, ACL bearings, etc.
and freebee AEM pulley and a shortshifter from Steve :D
most parts are from Tom Camp1320.com
picket up my Ef-1 cam and hyper clutch today
going to assemble very soon, but now sleep

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org has them for:
PIN, PISTON $11.14
PISTON (OS 0.50) $40.16
RING SET (OS 0.50) $24.65
there are some members here on h-t that are acura parts dealers and they can most likely beat those prices.

Ti retainers, stiffer springs, lighter valves and you will be set
kris</TD></TR></TABLE>
If you are going to get a "big cam" then why are you using the y8 head anyways? The y8 makes more compression over the z6 and has a better cam. that is the ONLY good thing about it in my eyes. z6 flows much better and also from what i have heard a6 as a complete will make more power (head and shortblock) You will already have a nice cam and high compression so unless all you want is Vtec and more wiring then thats cool. its your motor. Just passing on some nice info. Exospeed have very nice stuff for the a6. They made 140whp with "only" head work and some basic bolt ons. I'm going the same route kinda, D seires sohc. I have the head built, I just need some slugs to go w/ everything I have and it is done. But yeah, do you know what i mean by that though? It would be a waist to get a y8 head. waist of money in my eyes.
you get the vtec head for this reason.
more compression
more revvs
Better cam
You already are getting a1 pistons so you will have nice compression
you want a big cam so you will have the better cam
and u can get teh ECU chipped to rev the cam where it wants to be revved.
I dont have the link anymore but It was of a dyno graph of a built y8 and built a6, both with 23psi of boost and pretty much same mods. the a6 had 30-40whp over the y8. but talk to Wil at Exospeed. He will tell you all you need to know.

oh yeah and to add... After you beat the **** out of someone with a d16a6. you show them the engine bay and watch them **** themselves when they only see a nonvtec sohc.
I have a set of PM7 pistons and rods that are identicle to those for sale, they are in good condition. I swaped them out for some higher compression (For the zc) forged pistons and eagle rods so I could feel more relaxed about using a small shot of N20 later down the road.. I never used them and they are in good condition.
