Default Can you fully tune your hondata on the street without a dyno??

i'm going to a shop that doesn't have a dyno but they said they can fully tune on the street. partial throttle, WOT, and with boost.. on a wideband o2 .. They also said it is going to take around 6 hours to do. does this sound about right? please confirm.. thanks!

If you have a deserted open area and a wide band o2 you can pull off a no-dyno tune with no problems. BUT seeing the power/torque curves aids the fine tuning sessions.

6 hours doesnt sound right. They must not know what the hell they are doing. It should take about 1-3 hours at most w/o a dyno.

whats Boosted Hybrid does on his cars is does the partial thorttles on the streets and soem full thorttle pulls, and thne fine tunes for like and hr or so on the dyno to get the timing maps tweaked for full power.

I would be willing to bet 6 hours is a guess. They probably don't want to tell a customer it will take an hour or two when there could be problems.

FWIW I had my car tuned w/ Hondata strictly on the street, and I'm extermely happy with it. I do plan on putting on a dyno here soon in order to fine tune it.

You can do quite a bit on the street with a wideband, but you cannot easily fine tune the timing without seeing the power output on a dyno.

Tuning on the street is actually better then the dyno, it's just too bad that it gets dangerous when the car is at WOT.

its better to get the car street tuned first and dyno tuned later.. and it shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours for street and 1 hour for dyno unless you're running lots of boost then it might take a little longer on dyno.

not that it could hurt to street tune for 6 hours, but if the tuner does take that long, he's still learning to tune, and should do the first 3-4 hours for free...

this tuner is doing it for a flat fee of 250 dollars... i tried scheduling last month but he's booked until july 29th.. so I assume he's good for the amount of customers he gets.. plus got a couple reviews... so it's not possible to fine tune the timing on the street? BTW: i'm tuning at 1 bar..

$250 is a good price. I think most guys charge something like $150 an hour.

So basically street tuning is the best and the only way to get part throttle tuning done, And then the Dyno is good for WOT and fine tuning.. So pretty much do both right??? How good of a tune can you get doing WOT on the street?

wow super old post.. haha

just to verify. i had my car ALL street tuned by vernon at raver motorsports to 9psi. no problems whatsoever during the couple months. Then I had jason (st00pid) tuned the rest of the map to 14psi.. he said my previous tune was really good.
