Re: how long to tune hondata? (Diego Boost)
what is a basemap? and how would i know if i have one.. or a good one? is it what the base settings are from the guy that installed the hondata? collin from rpm nyc installed mine for me...put in a start up program and stuff...
and also, this would be tuned on a dyno for daily driving if that is what you meant?

Dyno 1-2 hours depending on what you need done.
Street wideband 2 hours.
Estimate seems reasonable if it includes street and dyno tuning.

Re: how long to tune hondata? (TurboSedan)
ok... so are all basemaps the same? or do they vary? i told colin what my setup would be roughly... so you think he installed it setup something similar. so it would be half way close, and that is why i can drive it to the tuner.. as long as i dont rag it out? thanks for the help too guys.

Not all basmaps are the same. If he knew what your setup was, he programmed your chip so that it would run half-way decent at least.

thats a good estimate. get it done right. make sure most of the time is spent street tuning with a wideband or you may find yourself kicking yourself later.

Boosted, what do you think is causing your problem? Too hot now, or did they just not tune it right? Since you are in Columbia, we might be able to hook up my wideband to it if you want. What all do you have for your setup? I think I might have seen you the other day in Harbison. Is your car a grayish purple color? Not too many ludes here with FMICs.

Remember it's a start up map. People need to stop saying base map because that's the incorrect term. It's really a start up map! It purpose is to start up the car so one can drive it (carefully) to a local tuner.
Start up map is a rough estimate or guess so please try not to beat on it.
And yes 3-4 hrs sounds about it if he's doing street tuning for partial throttle and then dyno for WOT.

See, there's a man who knows what he's talking about.
People somehow got the idea that a basemap is someone else's tune. I rarely do this. Let's think about the wording here: basemap. Base, basic, beginner, etc. Its a place to start tuning from.
Don't beat on your basemap. A thorough tuner will take about 4 hours to start from scratch to finish.

Re: how long to tune hondata? (VaporTrail)
hmmm......
i just bought hondata s200 with boost, but tom payn told me he couldnt get me on the dyno and tune for about 1.5-2 months!
im jsut running the jrSC FMU crap right now, i just figured that the hondata basemap would be better than the JRSC crap i got now.

Agreed,
Start up map. I freak when I see someone start boosting on their "basemap" !!!!
Heed that warning for all reading....
If a car starts out mechanically sound, 4hrs is a good estimate in tuning time. Thats not including the time to set up the computer and wideband. Figure on the better part of a day!
