How Many ITR's were made?
Does anyone know how many ITR's were produced? I got #583 in December of '01. It doesn't seem like they would make much more after December.
USDM vs JDM?
# imported to USA?
'97/ '98?
'00/ '01?
White vs. Black vs. Yellow?
Gimme what you got!

I find it strange that Acura has not released official release numbers for the R. Anything else that you buy that has a limited production run (art, collectible, etc.) will clearly tell you the total numbr produced...
This is what I recall hearing, rumors. Don't know if it is US & Can?
400 - 1997
800 - 1998
1500 -2000
1500 - 2001
Although I recal seeing someone with a 97 numbered above 400. Perhaps they didn't start at 1 for the states?

i have seen in the 400's for '97, but no higher. i think God/dan here on h-t.com had '98 #1035 or something, so there were more than 1000 in '98.
we have evidence of more than 1500 in '00, from the posts above.
i haven't seen anything higher that 1300 for '01. i have #1020 and it was produced in 12/00.

Actually, I asked the dealer rep from American Honda when he was here, and he said there were 400 made in 97, and most of the first 50 went to various race teams, and Honda bigwigs. Then he said there were 1200 in 98 but he wasn't too sure. He told me there are 1600 in 00 and 01, with 800 of each color.
Hope this helps.
BTW, my friend used to race for Team Hurricane in the Motorola Cup, and in 1997, Honda gave his race team #97-007 and 97-008.. or so I have been told. So at least I can say my cylinder head is from one of the first 10 in the USA. I bought my cylinder headd off him for $600. complete last year. Hell of a deal, huh!

Someone on here had a good theory, that all the cars were built side by side with other models like the 'jdm', ukdm, audm etc. and the numbers were alternated with each other. Dunno if that theory holds up though or we would be seeing #3000 or somethin glike that.
Regarding the theory about the different market R's being built side by side, I have #1021 for Canada and I'm pretty sure I read from a previous thread that #1020 was somewhere Stateside.
I do know however that when I bought my car, the 5 the dealer had were all consecutive numbers.

i got #310 of 2001, but i know i am far form the top
Until some big whigs release an official number we will never know exactically how many. My guess is that there were totals for North America, not for the US and Canada separetly, since its not Acura of Canada of Acura of US. Its called Acura of North America.
As for the equal numbers thing, I believe it to be BS. There were SUPPOSED to be equal numbers of each, but I have a 2000 Black ITR and have been told numerous time that there where only 182 Black Rs imported in 2000. I have recieved that exact number not once, not twice, but thrice. All from different people who are in the know how.
Im sure they were all just randomly assigned numbers when they were built. Since the center consouls are different, I think they build the North American Cars at a different time than the JDm cars. Im not sure about the UKDM.

29969, just shy of 30k JDM ITR's. Cool. So we shall have plenty more JDM swaps available in the near future.
Wonder how many CTR's were made...
