You already know the Type R is a special automobile. But what make this one different from all the rest?

1. Special Treatment:
• This car has always been garage kept.

• I have pampered this car. Even though it has seen some race use, it was extremely well prepared and protected. When I raced Pikes Peak I installed rock shields and linings to protect the paint.

4. Special Tuning:
This vehicle is not some “over-the-top” Turbo-charged, slammed, about to implode or explode vehicle. We have refined and tuned this vehicle to be a perfectly balanced machine. I am sure you have reviewed the list of items the vehicle has been fitted with. My goals were to build a vehicle that will still be under the factory warranty, while raising the performance level of the vehicle by 20-25 percent.
There are many parts on this vehicle that I describe as transparent. Meaning, to the untrained eye they are never noticed. But they all work together to make the vehicle a better overall driving experience.

So then why am I selling it? Too many projects! I currently have three vehicles, so I decided to sell the Type R since the others are incomplete projects.

How much am I selling it for?

I have gone through and listed all the items that are on the vehicle. All the items you see here will be included at the time of sale. As you know ebay.com is a great place to sell and buy used auto parts. As such I have done the research of what each of the items on the car can easily be sold for on e-bay. After compiling the list I devised a fair method of 10% discount to estimate the price. Keep in mind that not only does this vehicle have professionally installed equipment, but it also has a factory warranty on all factory parts. Add to this the historical value of the car and the price becomes a true value!

Many of you have sent me emails and personal messages inquiring the amount that the reserve is for my ebay auction. As you know this amount is the reality of the lowest amount of money I am willing to accept for my vehicle.
As such the reserve is set at $23,750!!!! Yes, the ebay.com buy now is still $27,174.60. But I felt a low reserve would allow the opportunity for the vehicle to be sold in a shorter period of time.

Additional Information:

I purchased the vehicle brand new from Gettel Acura in Sarasota, FL. I pre-ordered the vehicle three months in advance. Upon arriving at the dealer, it came directly off the truck into the showroom. It sat on the showroom floor while I was away on business. When I took delivery of the vehicle it went directly to my garage. Originally I had no intentions of modifying the Type R. As many of you know it is more than capable in stock form. I wanted to keep it forever.

My situation changed, and so did the Type R. In 1999, my Pikes Peak race car, a Honda Civic was totaled in a non-racing transport accident. This caused me to rethink the future of the Type R. After reviewing the rules for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, we decided only one vehicle was capable of winning the 2wd class. That vehicle was the Type R, and it was in my garage! Not wanting to harm my Type R in any way, we painstakingly prepared it so that it not only could compete at Pikes Peak, but also win. All-the-while we made sure that the vehicle could easily be used on the street and be kept in perfect condition. Hence, this vehicle despite its use on Pikes Peak is in much better shape than the majority of similarly aged vehicles. It is constantly kept in the garage!

I invite any who are genuinely interested in the vehicle to come and view the shape that it is in. Many who have seen it are always amazed that this exact vehicle raced Pikes Peak – and is this clean!

Oh, what about the Type R mechanically? Only one year ago, I purchased from Honda of North America many new items! Why? I was building my Honda Civic that won Pikes Peak in 2002. We had stripped the Type R to build the Civic race car. So when the new parts arrived the Type R benefited.

To sum it up, you are purchasing: A piece of Honda’s history that also happens to be one of the finest Type R’s in the country, if not the world. It is world-famous, appearing in countless magazines and calendars. It has performance that exceeds that of the stock Type R, while retaining the security of factory reliability. But you knew all that. So why not just own it and get to driving!

I've known him for the past 6 years from college to the local street scene. Good friend and customer as well.

Car is well maintain, and yes, mostly OEM parts was accociated when he was building this car back in the days. I've actually work on it in the past; to help him out and to get it done on time for races.

It is a special edition Type R that came with all the feature listed above. The original price was somewhere in the low 40,000 range plus a lot of sweat and tears.

WOW Now that's a TYPE R

 

I remember seeign this type r on the way to NOPI 2001 with the southern leg tour....He wouldn't even fool around on the way up there when I was driving a silver RSX-S (The RSX had just come out then, and was already tricked out with mods). HE car was pretty damn nice, and this just shwos he didn't beat on it. Still I got to beat some red supercharged SI that was with the type r i believe.

No the Steering Wheel is a Sparco Unit. It is an awesome suede unit. I used it for the last Pikes Peak and World Challenge event. I really like the steering wheel. One of the reasons is the yellow marking ring on the top of the steering wheel!
