Well, I finally got off my lazy *** and fixed my VAFC mount. As many know, I had it mounted above my rearview mirror, hanging from the mirror cover. The method I used was superglue'd industrial strength velcro. In that case, in case I needed to stash the unit int he glovebox I could remove it. This method worked for the fall, winter and spring but as soon as summer hit, the heat proved to me that superglue does not hold everything.
So, I finally set out today to create a permanent mount so that I wouldn't have to worry. I ripped off the mirror cover, stuck in some bolts, slid the VAFC's stand inbetween the bolts and screwed nuts on them. Now it's suck there with no worries of it falling =D
Anyway, since I have been asked how to mount it up there many times and now that I have a valid process, here is what to do:
1. buy 6 32 x 1/2 machine bolts (round head type) w/ accompanying nuts, and a drill bit of the same size
2. take a flathead screwdriver, insert it inbetween the plastic mirror cover and the ceiling on the SIDE of the cover, and pry it off
3. with the VAFC moutned on its stand, rotate it all the way back so that if the bottom of the stand is placed on the cieling,t he unit displays right side up at a 45 degree angle.
4. mark two lines on the mirror cover by placing the stand where you want it on the cover: the lines should be in front of the rear part of the stand (the one-bar) and inbetween the front part of the stand (the two-bar, H style part).
5. drill four holes, two on each line where you want the bolts to go through. use logic; place them somewhere that the bolts can also go through the two bars on the H bar, and in front of the rear bar of the stand.
6. push (or thread if needed) the bolts through the holes, and then through the VAFC stand. it may be necessary (it was for me, as the bolts were a BIT big) to place the stand in place while threading the bolts in, so that the bolts go into the right places on the stand.
7. thread the nuts onto the bolts and tighten them.
8. IMPORTANT STEP! you are not done yet. because the bolts have rounded heads, they obstruct in putting the mirror cover back on. what I did was unbolt the mirror off the car (just 3 philips-head screws). i placed the mirror cover over the mirror and lightly hammered it so that the bolts in the cover scratch off the black paint on the mirror (don't worry, this part of the mirror is covered by the cover so it is NOT unsightly). this just serves as a guide as to where you will need to trim.
9. take a dremel tool with a round-ball head and simply make pits on the spots that the bolts will be hitting. the point is to clear enough room for the cover to go over the mirror without the bolts being in the way; not too much pitting is needed. if you do not have a dremel, find another way. as long as you can clear enough room, you'r fine.
10. bolt the mirror back on the car, and snap the cover on with the VAFC attatched. DONE!
I realize that those instructions may be a bit confusing. So IM me if you have any questions. Here are pictures of the result:

it's pretty much out of sight unless you bend down and look up at the ceiling

Lucky... mine decided to melt =P How's your weather? Once we hit 100+ there was no hope for my adhesive.
