Want to confrim oil capacity for H22 in a 1998 prelude...
Is it 5.1 or 5.5 quarts for a manual tranny 'lude? Thanks, doing my mom's soon, wanna be sure i buy enough, used to having extra from the 5-quart jug in my 'teg

IIRC, the factory spec is 5.2 qts with a new filter. I aways just put 5 qts even in it. They all consume oil anyway. So I'm always checking and adding more oil every few weeks or so...

when i first got my car i didn't change my own oil, but i knew what it took.... the local place made me a ticket, said 5 quarts of oil on it, but the tech worte that they only put 4 quarts in, i paid for 5 though..... needless ot say i walked outside, checked the oil level right in front of everyone, i even heard one of the employees say something smart like "what, don't people think we know what the hell we are doing???" so after i noticed that it was a quart low i walked up to that same guy and asked HIM to check my oil level, he chuckled, then walked to the car and noticed that i was right.......
no point to my story, i just thought it was kinda funny

I heard from several sources that type SHs take less oil. Does anyone know the exact amount? The first oil change on my car was done at a garage and they put the 5.2 and it was too much. When they drained some they told me it should be ~3.75, so now I just do 4 myself now. But the owner's manual doesn't specify for a type SH. Does anyone know?

If you're doing an oil and filter change you'll always be safe just putting in 5 quarts and calling it a day. I do that, or I put in 4.5'ish then check the level and add to around 5 total.
