Default TPS adjustment?

my car is idling at 1500 rpms, and throwing a code 7 (tps) , and i cant figure out how to adjust the TPS, and what wires do i probe with the volt meter? i read all the ones in the archives but none of them really helped.. i need a detailed discription on how to fix this... thanks

i fixed the problem... tps was just put in wrong.. so now i have the idle problem it bounces betwen 1000 and 700 when it gets warm.. so how do i fix that just check the volts? thanks

theres three wires I dont know the colors off hand but.

one is the ground.
one is the reference about 5v
and one is signal .45v to 4.5v
set the signal which changes when you adjust the tps to .45v closed.
If you still have a code do a tps sweep on the ref v. it should smoothly go betwwen .45 to 4.5 as you go from 0 to 100% throttle.

the surging is most likely a vacuum leak some where

Not directly related to helping your problem but when you have vaccum leaks and you find the problem, I'd replace the sqeeze clamps with screw clamps. More secure fitting.

pills_PMD thanks!!! that helps soooo much... im gonna fix it tomorrow!! to dark to do anything now..
p.s. not a vacum leak just need to adjust the tps.. when i got the check engine light to go away i was so happy that i just put everything away and went to my friends house..

just checked the volts on post on the tps...

closed - .5
WOT- 3.83

is that a bad thing ? how can i fix it?
