I am going to need a 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust (down-pipe back) made for my'94 turbo Gs-r. Stainless steel is the best from what i heard but I have heard that aluminized piping is the best value (cheapest). I don't want to do anything so half-assed that the piping will rust out in 6 months. If i sand and paint the piping with high temp paint will there be any issues with breakdowm and rust?
The aluminized coating on the piping is designed to help prevent rust, so don't remove it. If anything, you'll want to make sure to paint the flanges and the welded areas around them with a high-temp paint to help prevent rust. Yes, the aluminized piping will corrode over time, but it will last more than 6 months. However if you live in an area with extreme cold temps, rain/snow and salt on the roads, etc. then it might be best to just go with stainless.
i do aluminized exhaust all day.. you wont have problems withit. Unless... you drive a lot in the snow and or on the salty beachy areas. then it would more ideal to go with a Stainless system. Heck for 25-30 dollars more.. kinda worth it..
