Boost Gauge wiring
I need to know where a good place to run the power wire for my friends boost gauge. He was told by a different person that it needs a 6v source and to run it to the back of the cruise control button, but I went to autometers website and it didnt say anthing about 6v. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I dont know which boost gauge your friend has but i have a 5775 (phantom) mechanical. And the only power it needs is for the light, the directions say 12v. Hope that helps, if it doesnt we're gonna need a little more info.

easiest place to get power is the fusebox.. no tapping or splicing.
The WHITE wire is for the illumination, and the <FONT COLOR="red">RED</FONT> wire is for 12V ignition.
Hope this helps...
edit... duh forgot picture

Its a cobalt series boost guage. It has the 3 wires that run to the box in the engine compartment, and then the red power, black ground and white illumination. Is that the main fuse box by the clutch pedal? thanks for your help

yes it is

Like tach power, af gauge, etc??</TD></TR></TABLE>
yes you can
I would recommend fusing them though. Put a fise inline with the power... try a 3amp fuse for each.. or about 5 for two powers.
Dont forget to ground everytning nicely!

I grabbed power off my deck. the deck has a constant 12V wire and an ignition wire. No problems with fuses, but if I ever decide to splice more into the deck power, I'll have to get some fuses and run them inline, and eliminate the fuse box fuse..
In the autometer instructions it says to look for a source that is not constant to preserve bulb life. Its a good point but is there anything in the fuse box that is only power when your lights are on?

yes, if you don't have the fuse panel cover that shows you where your headlight fuse is, then get a multimeter and find it, just tap into that with the white wire and when your headlighs turn on so will the guage illumination.

yeh.... the white wire is what has power when the lights go on... you dont need to tap into a existing fuse, there is a port on the fusebox that is empty and you can just get some female spade solderless connectors, and plug er in

yea, i mean tap into with a connector, dunno anyone that would tear into a panel for a wire
i got an adapter from autozone that holds 2 fuses and plugs into the panel and the other fuse has a wire comming off of it for a guage or whatever.
