RWD EG hatch?
Anyone know of a RWD EG? I did a search and did not find anything. It would take hella work to pull it off, but it'd be tighter than the Olsen twins...
Any idea how something like this might perform? Imagine a turbohatch with the engine weight over the rear wheels!!! It'd be sick!
If anything, I would think making another firewall would be one of the hardest things to work out. Any ideas on whether or not fitment would be an issue?

What's so hard?
Cut up the rear hatch floorpan, custom mount the motor, align the axles, bolt up the suspension/fork assembly to the rear strut towers, run a custom shift linkage, extend the ECU wires, put up a 1/4" thick firewall seperating the front cabin from the rear.
Of course it would help if you knew how to weld and ****.

oh yea then you have to totally reconfigure the engine bay for a diffrently mounted engine, cut the firewall, reroute the exhaust, move the gas tank because the differental will go there
its a waste of time and money
you want RWD buy a RWD car.

Miata engine and tranny with custom driveshafts and differential/rear suspension. It'll cost less and be slow, but you'll have RWD.
OR
You could buy a 1985 Camaro for $1000, drop a $5000 big block in it and run 10's.
Your choice .

Re: RWD EG hatch? (ProjectH)
yea the nsx engine your talking about was in the front, a local shop in GA put an nsx engine in the rear of a crx its not worth the money and you would have to have a lot of resources if you want rwd buy a rwd like some one said

no, dont buy a 240. the prices for 240 are 20-30% over blue book because everyone wants one.

That's not rear wheel drive. It's still front wheel.

Re: RWD EG hatch? (ptran13)
Just re-read the article and saw that it was FWD, the 240 is not a bad idea for the RWD. I am actually thinking about getting a 240, but I definitely want the S15 conversion I cannot stand the way that car looks stock. Then there is the matter of the Sr20DET or getting a nice turbo kit from xs-engineering.

Re: RWD EG hatch? (ProjectH)
I thought about it, and the civic hb + RWD fab work would not be so bad...locating everything and trying to halfway balance the car out would be the major issue as far as I am concerned.
I am actually thinking about a 240 project...I'd like to tackle a Sil-80 personally. Maybe the hatch RWD is a bad idea, but it sure would be cool. Imagine the press you'd get on something like that, esp. for a startup shop that wants to make a name for itself...

Re: RWD EG hatch? (ITRMunky 01-0839)
theres a rwd crx that has like 900hp and is powered by a s2000 motor.
i wanted to do it to a 88 hatch cause i came across a s2000 swap with like 8k for realllllly cheap

Re: RWD EG hatch? (Kamin)
what would be tight is to take a 99-00 hatch and put a S2K engine in it and turbo, then custom run a driveshaft and make it RWD, that **** would be fast and no one has ever done it
