How to remove a sohc vtec head?
heading to the junyard tommorow to see if i can find a d16z6 or d16y8 head. i got a socket set should that be sufficient to remove it? also does anyone know of an aftermarket company that makes valve springs for that head? does anyone have a link to a diagram of the head? thanks again
usual tools for a honda...
10 to 19mm sockets and you should be fine.
Remeber that the 92-95 Z6 head DOES NOT have the same distributor bolt pattern then all the other D series head... damn Honda...

pull off valve cover- 10mm nuts
pull off timing belt cover- 10mm nuts
cut timing belt with a knife
remove exhaust manifold- 12mm nuts
remove the 2 12mm bolts underneath intake manifold- attatched to bracket
remove all wiring
crack the 14mm head bolts evenly
take out head bolts
remove head and intake mani as a whole
I had some Crower valve springs in mine and they were good

crack as in "break loose". You don't want to take them all out one at a time, as this will leave a lot of stress in certain areas. Break them loose with a 1/4 turn until all are loose. Then work your way around loosening them all up until there is no more pressure on the head.
The dizzy can stay or come off, there's only 3 12mm bolts holding it on

I'm not sure on the exact number
this is jsut from what I remeber, jsut to give a rough reference
but loosen the bolts in this pattern
1 5 7 3
4 8 6 2
that way you wont warp the head
can someone tell how to do this exactly ? I don't have my helms with me
and I don`t think I have enough bolts
