Crank Pully
Ok first off i did a search and no help. I was wondering if anyone can send me a picture to show when the crank pully is at the top stroke. Im trying to set my timing back to normal and someone said its my pully. So can anyone send a picture? Thanks. Oh yea its a B18C1.
Sorry, I don't have a digital camera, but I can try to describe it to you. TDC on the crank pulley is the white mark on the pulley. You will see three other lines before this white TDC mark. Line up the white mark to the little arrow on the plastic cover that covers the oil pump. If you removed this plastic cover and have nothing to line it up with, then pull the crank pulley off and you will see an arrow on the oil pump. The small gear that you see, will have a line that will help identify top dead center. Line this little line up with the arrow on the oil pump. Sounds confusing. I hope it helps! Take care and good luck.
Yeah my friend told me about the white markings. I turned the crank pulley but i couldnt find the white lines (i had my brother look for it while i was turning it) That is why i was asking for a picture. I will look for that arrow on the oil pump. My friend told me about that but i wasnt sure wat he was talking about. Thanks for the info and if anyone can post a pic. of it that would be really appericated. Thanks again.
If you can't see a white line, then the pulley must've been painted or it's a little bit dirty. In that case, look at the crank pulley as your brother turns it. Pay attention to the area on the pulley(small lip on pulley) where the alternator belt goes(closest to the plastic cover) This is where the line(only one line for the TDC mark) will be located. You will notice a total of 4 small indentations on the crank pulley. 3 will be very close to each other and one will be a little farther apart than the rest. This will be the white TDC mark. Try to find it that way. Maybe that will help. Good luck!

The blue arrow is the white marks I described to you. Do not line it up using these marks. These are used to set timing once the motor is together. Disregard them for now.
The yellow circle shows the line on the cover you use to line up the seperate marking on the pulley. Once that is on, you can begin to set the belt.
You MUST have these lined up, like I told you,. And the must make a plane across the cover to meet all lines flat. Kep in mind, sometimes things like to move, make sure EVERYTHING, including oil pump are lined up while setting the cams.

When we installed a timing belt on my friend's SOHC VTEC swap last weekend, we made sure of 4 different things:
1) mark on cam gear aligned w/ pointer on timing belt cover
2) cam gear arrow pointing up
3) mark on crank sprocket aligned w/ arror on oil pump
4) mark on crank pulley aligned w/ pointer on lower timing belt cover
On a DOHC engine, there are also dots on the edge of the cam gears (like shown above), and when the arrows on the gears point up, you want one of these dots on each cam gear to be directly across from each other.
