Default 96-98 Head unit install w/factory keyless entry

I have a 97 ex coupe with keyless entry. I have found out that the wiring for that is run through the radio. So one way or another I have to keep the factory head unit in the car in order to still use the keyless remote? Where can I buy the proper wiring harness for this? Also I was thinking of keeping the stock unit where it is, and putting my aftermarket one in the spacer down by the cup holder. Is this a possibility? Has anyone else done it? Could you show me a pic? I would like to keep the install as simple as possible and keep the keyless entry. Why did honda decide to do this? So if someone stole the radio your keyless entry wouldn't work?

Thank you,
Ross Philips

if you leave the stock radio there, it will not function at all, besides power up. you can get the harnesses necessary at best buy or circut city. when you go there you need to ask for a harness for your car and the reverse harness. at best buy we take the radio and push it in the dash behind where the electrical outlet is. once you get the car apart youll see it. it does take some time to get it in there right though. all you need to do to keep your keyless is make sure your deck gets power as it normally would, other thant that hook up your new radio as normal.

i have a 97 ex cpe with keyless entry also. installed a cd deck and the k/e worked fine for some time. after a few months, something went wrong. honda insist that it was the cd, even tho i know it can't be because there was a harness being installed and besides, it's months later that the k/e doesn't work. that's why i got the clifford rs3.
