Default 18G B18C1 dyno (56k come on in)

I got to dyno my car today.

94 B18C1, ~100,000 miles, stock internals, Greddy exhaust manifold, TD05-18G, 2.5 inch downpipe/testpipe, 2.25 inch Thermal catback, XS Engineering 20x11x3 intercooler, Skunk2 IM, MSD 6BTM @ .75degrees/per pound of boost, MSD Blaster SS coil, MSD 8.5mm plug wires, DSM 450cc injectors, Apexi AFC, Walbro 255lph pump..uh, I think that's about it.

With the AFC set at -33 initially I made 199/169 @ 7500rpm. 2 pulls later I had it set at -40 all the way accross and the AFR was still 11:1 up top. I know its lean up until 5500 but I added fuel after leaving the dyno. It runs so much better after leaning it out up top. Before it was stuttering and carrying on. I'm pretty happy with my "little" turbo considering the 11:1 AFR. How many Hondas do you see with a torque peak @ 3700rpm?

224.2/183.3 @ .5 bar with a 11:1 AFR..discuss amongst yourselves.

BTW, my friend David dynoed his hatch too. B16A, 9:1 JEs, Drag 3 kit, VAFC/450s: He made 235/? @ ~9psi and 251/185 @ 11psi.

Nice dyno.

However, saving the image as a JPG will drop the file down from 600KB to 100KB.

Also, on my 2nd pull (sorry, no scan of the sheet) at around 7300rpm the AF spiked from 10:1 up to 15:1 (!!!!!) and fell back to 10:1 at 7450rpm. It only did that one time out of 3 pulls. Why? David, the guy who dynoed his car as well had that happen 1 time out of 5 pulls.

Detonation? What could it be?

2.5 DP 2.25 cat-back???? Kind of a small bottle neck there but other than that, nice numbers. Free up the cat-back at least to match the DP or go 3-inch and you should probably expect higher numbers.

Yeah I drive the Green JRSC GSR. How's Kirby's car running, I heard he blew it up a couple of weeks after he put the turbo on it?

no dont change your exhaust. you will boost creep if you free it up anymore. based on the rise at 3750, you're probly spiking already.

Is that something you can't do with the GReddy kits? Doesn't GReddy make the Power Extreme II in 3-inch cat-back for the Integra? They must have engineered it with their GSR kit in mind.

Just did and found nothing about boost spike in relation to the size of exhaust piping. Maybe you can show me some links?

I did find this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=327214 where boost killz says he runs a 2.5 DP with 3" exhaust and makes 315whp@15PSI with spiking controlled with a Profec B. The creator of this thread is only running .5 BAR (about 7lbs.), so maybe spiking won't be that much of a problem?? I don't know.....Someone please explain the exhuast piping/spiking relation.

edit: isn't boost creep different than boost spike?

ur car needs to be tuned.... numbers are decent BUT I think u have much more potential.... Ur running really rich up top, lean down load and the whole chart is really choppy

keep the super-restrictive stock cat in place and you wont have any problems. open it up all the way like i did and say g'bye to being able to control boost at WOT. (i have 2.5" dp and 3" after oil pan.)

and yes it has to do with the super-sucky internal wastegate setup of the mitsu turbo that greddy uses. i am pretty bummed. i shoulda gone with external WG setup, or not have gone all out with the exhaust. oh well. i ported the WG and that helped a lot but its not perfect just yet (still creeps I THINK, still testing)

Jeff C.: More boost will come in time, Mr. IDon'tSprayOnMyBuiltB20VTECBecauseIDon'tWantToDisi ntegrateAnotherAlternatorBelt.

SuperDuperEG: I'm aware that 2.25 isn't ideal but it's what I have to work with from my NA years. I ran open downpipe for 6months. It made quite a bit more power but it did spike everytime I hit boost. I got tired of stinking like exhaust so I hooked my catback back up.

speedy108: Ok I know who you are now. Kirby's car runs great. You heard right..Kirby's right foot+boost+not enough fuel=kaboom. It's rebuilt and running great now (251/185).

DR. ON POINT: I agree..there's more power to be had I was just running out of dyno time. A buddy of mine has a Techedge kit that were going to hook up whenever we find time and lean it out some more.

Charlie Moua: Who told you I suck at drag racing? They were right..I'll run it in the 1/8th this Thursday though..no 1/4s around here.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Sitting here staring at the chart I figured out why my AF went from 13:1 to 11:1 at 5300rpm. On that dyno I had the same -40 settings for the Low and High cam but it still went rich at 5300. I'm running the ZDYNE B16 ecu which has a 5300 vtec engagement..VTEC is set at 4800 via the AFC now but the fuel maps aren't compensated for that.

Just thought I would share with the class.
