I just got a skunk 21mm rear sway bar for my EK, and I was wondering just how long I can run it without a reinforcement kit. I don't have the money right now for one (yeah, I know it's like $60, but thats college for ya) but I really wanna put the bar on now. I don't normally drive all too hard and I don't plan on autox'ing before I get the reinforcement kit. I know this sounds dumb, but I'm just making sure there's no immediate (within a month or two) threat of damage to my subframe with my setup.

(I'm no expert).....I would think the less hard you cornered during this time, the longer it would last.
If you don't want to spend the money on the kit, get creative and make your own. (my suggestion would be getting two plates to clamp the sheet metal that it is mounted with the mounting bolt. maybe you could just tie it to the LCA mounting....dunno)
be creative and you can probably figure out something as good/better as what you can buy.

Some people run them without the kits and have no problems. Some people tear everything up. Its hard to say. I'd get a kit though, but if you take it easy you should be OK.

Have you seen what comes in these "kits"?
I am going to make my own when I get a rear
sway.....i dont even have the money for that though.

I don't know if you have any other suspension mods like stiffer shock/spring but this will help prevent subframe tears. If you have stock suspension or just springs I would definetely watch out. Did your sway bar come w/ the metal plates to reinforce the subframe. If it didn't you should contact skunk2 to have them ship you out some. I bought a skunk2 lower tie bar and it didn't come with the hardware so skunk2 sent it to me.

i would just wait to put it on when you get the subframe brackets. The 60 dollars will be well worth it when compared to the price of getting the subframe welded.

I've got H&R sport springs (~2" front, 1.5" rear) and no other mods. The bar came with a metal plate to go behind the subframe and a brakect that bolts through the subframe and into the metal pate behind. it holds the bar out away from the subframe a good two inches, then the D bracket bolts to that. i don't really see how the beaks kit works, it looks like basically same hardware I have now, but beefier, but I don't see how it would protect my subframe any better than what I have no. but it is only $60, and surely worth it.
