Default Starting problem...clutch switch?

lately, every once in a while, my car won't start. It will just click when I turn the key, and I have to let off the clutch pedal, push it back in and try again, stomp on it, whatever then it starts. It pisses me of cuz there isn't one thing I can do everytime it does that, its just random stomping on the clutch pedal that works. Is there any way I can adjust the switch or something? Is it even the switch or something else? Thanks.

Are you selling the shocks, the exhaust, and the B&M short shifter? If so, how much do you want for those 3 things?

thanks for the help I just put on the suspension last summer and put it in storage for winter, so I barely have used them. I am probably keeping my car now, so no plans for selling current parts, except my hood. CF here I come...I hate this little rust spot I have on my hood. Salt=

I had the same problem w/ starting the car. When I turned the key sometimes it would crank but would not fire up and sometimes it just did nothing. I would have to try it a minute later and it would start up. Well first I tried adjusting the clutch-start switch which allows the car to start only when this button is depressed. After adjusting the car still had starting problems...so this may not be the root of your problem.

What I did was change the battery, spark plugs, and the distributor cap and rotor and now car starts up fine. If you have not had any maintenace done in a while I suggest starting w/ the parts I mentioned and go from there. HTH

Check the wires and connections to the starter.
Try disconnecting then reconnecting the wires to the starter.
I had a similar problem, checked all the connections, took the wires off, put them back on, but ultimately purchased a new starter and the problem went away.
Starters can be tested and rebuilt too if you have the time and want to save the money on a new one.

hmmm, ok, thanks for the help. I know cap and rotor and wires were replaced around the 90K service, the car now has 126K. I'll check some connections, they could very well be corroded or something...thanks for the help.

Sounds exactly like what I delt with on my car:

I had two problems:

1) Starter was going bad (you would hear a click, but it would not start) -> I had my starter rebuilt by a local shop for ~$90 and it works great now. If you hear a click from under the hood and it is not starting... replace / have yours rebuilt ASAP, the problem is only going to get worse.

2) Clutch inhibit switch needed adjusting (you heard no click, and it still would not start) -> solution was to simply crawl under the dash and adjust it.

After resolving problems 1 & 2 I'm happy to report that my Integra starts perfectly 1st time, every time.

Probably... You should hear the click under the hood. If you hold your clutch down and you keep trying the car should start normally after a few tries, but it's only going to get worse

I had the same exact problem. When I did my clutch, timing belt, water pump install which consisted of taking the motor out of the car, I replaced the starter and no more problems. I think there was a dead spot in the starter and when the starter got into that spot, the car wouldn't start. I changed the plug wires, plugs, dist cap, rotor and it still didn't help. I would start with those also and then get the starter tested.

Yeah, sometimes taking it out and putting it back in helps. Doesnt make sense, but it sometimes works. Thats the main reason I suggested disconnecting and reconnecting the wires to the starter....after all, you have to do that to take the starter out, and sometimes when you reconnect it, you improve the connection....ugh, its late if I'm not making much sense. ....

good luck though !

I like the N1. Very deep and throaty, no buzz at all, where as the Apexi N1's I've heard have a tiny amount. I could feel a tiny gain, my guess is 5-7whp tops. I got it from JDM Honda Parts for $480 shipped because it was "discontinued" because of Skunk2's version.

Like everyone else, I had the same problem.. As for me, it was the switch.. Since I'm too lazy to crawl undereath and adjust it, I just turn the key to START and then step on the Clutch.. Works everytime..
