Default sleeving a b18c1 to 2.0?

When sleeving a b18c1 and using a PR-3 head do you have to do anything to the head and combustion chamber? And does anyone have any pics of a sleeved block as if you were looking down the cylinders from the oil pan side? thanks!

Have it portmatched to the bore... I assume that you are goin somewhere in the neighborhood of 85mm so have the head matched to that... This pic is courtesy of sgT... Golden Eagle sleeved B18C... http://www.goldeneaglemfg.com/sleeves.htm

I disagree I would use the head without porting to macth the bore. A waste of money imo.

thanks! thats Exactly what I was looking for, when you say port matched you mean open up the combustion chamber to the same size as the bore of the block wright?

Let me ask you a Q, what is the benefit of port matching the combustion chamber?

Gives you more CC's?

It gets rid of a potential hot spot in the combustion chamber. On my built 2.0 gsr turbo block i run a 81mm bore on the head, and 84.5mm bore on the block. For FI I wish i would have spot faced the head to 84.5mm, but i bought the head already done from portflow. For my 2.1L gsr all motor block i spot faced the 86mm bore to the head. The only advantage i can see is that you can run a higher timing curve, and gain some power in that manner. With 13:1 on pump gas, I wanted get rid of any potential detonation that could be caused by the 81mm lip around the 86mm bore.

It gives you more cc's, not CC's. You dont gain any displacement, you lose compression. Think of it as making the head a "low" compression head in domesitc terms. I ordered my arias pistons with 13.5:1 compression anticipating a .4~.5:1 compression drop spot facing my head to 86mm so i could achieve a solid 12.8~13:1 compression.

Exacty as boosted hybrid put it... Matching the bore only increases the combustion chamber volume therefore decreasing your C/R... The overall displacement of a motor if figured by the ((pie)(bore^2))(stroke)... For example an 86mm B18C with LS/CRV crank... ((pie)(8.6^2))(8.9)='s 2067.93cc's so we would round that up to a 2.1L motor Peace

It gets rid of a potential hot spot in the combustion chamber
which in turns, reduces detonation.

Which is exactly why I would have it done... hahaha this is fun...

Some big names including Joe Alaniz will advise you against doing this. At least he did me w/ a NA setup.

WOW..13:1 on pump gas Thats extreme. Do u get alot of detonation? How much octane do u get around there?

actually thats not to extreme. its about borderline. 91 octane should be able to handle 13:1 no prob.

I am finishing building the engine as we speak, I dont know how 13:1 is going to respond to pump gas. We have 93 octane at the pumps in Pa, so i should be ok. All tuning is going to be done via hondata s200, and 440cc injectors.

My last setup with 13.1 ran on 94oct no problem. My head was tapered spot faced on the outer edges( r head with welded chambers, so only on the sides ) It's actually more like a smooth bevel to 84.
