Default Axle boots are leaking. Anyway to fix??

Hey guys, I checked my axles today and it looks like two are leaking at the outer edges of the boots where the clamp holds the boots onto the axle. They are leaking a little bit but they do leak. Is there a way to tighten the outer clamps that hold the boot on to keep the grease in??

in most cases it is more economical to replace the axle, do not try a split boot because that is a quick fix, not a complete remedy

Axel boots are easy to replace it cost about 10-20 bucks for a new boot. I recomend doing this if your gonan do it yourself and the axels are still cool. You basically need to take out the axle and slip the new ones on and clamp them.

i replaced my own, but i thought it was more of a pain then i prefer to do. whne i took them out i pulled the c/v joints apart. So i spent more time getting them back in the right way then it took me to replace the boot. I personaly would pay someone to do it for me next time. I also didnt push the right side axle in the trans all the way and ended up stripping the axle. i think i had bad luck that day

I am a tech for a Honda dealership in MD and you CAN relace the boots and get new clamps and it will be fine.

Yeah, actually, I am kinda looking for a temp. fix. I am going to do an engine swap soon and all I want to do right now is pass inspection. I don't want any grease leaking out either in the meantime.
Where can I get new clamps from??

replace the boots if your CV joints are ok. It's not hard to do it yourself either. Use this as an excuse to buy a manual.

Just stop by and see me, we have plenty of it in stock. Not sure on the price, I am home right now, but I can let you know tomorrow if you would like. I wouldnt suggest using HondaBond on your boots though. If the boots aren't cracked you can get away with just new bands, if they are cracked you may as well replace them. I should be able to get you boots for less than $20 each, including new bands and grease. BTW, what do you want to do about that trans?

Don't waste your money!
i replaced my clamps two times and they still leak.
my mechanic said you should just wait and do the axle too with the booths.

DO NOT replace your entire axle unless there is a problem with it. OEM axles are $300+ and aftermarket axles are JUNK. The only substitute for OEM is DSS or Prodrive. I broke 2 sets of DSS stage 1's before I upgraded to stage 2's, but I blame that on the car being too low.
