Default sunroof block off...

cage is going in and sunroof is going bye bye.

have a quick question though , is metal the only choice here ?

my cage guy also fabricates GT-1 body panels and I'd like to fill the hole with a carbon fiber plate , but we couldnt find the SCCA rulebook to check....

any help ? thoughts ? concerns ?

FOr Improved Touring the rule is clear enough. You can completely remove ALL of the sunroof components and reskin the roof with a replacement panel. In my case the CRX DX panel is acceptable as a replacement. The rule basically tells you to use a metal panel of the same thickness as the stock material. How you get in in or on the roof is your decision. That is: You can weld it into the opening, weld it over the opening, rivet it over the opening. I am taking this from 17.25 of the 2003 GCR. ITCS Section 8.f also makes reference to this.
Thus our decision to remove and reskin

but are they saying no other materials may be used or simply suggesting to use the same thickness metal ?

the way I see it if it doesnt say you CAN , then you CANT....

am I correct in this assumption ??

if you plan on racing GT, go for it! if youre just doing IT, sorry, no cabon fiber.... jc has the right wording, "metal" (of the same material and thickness)
