Radio code
I just bought a 1999 Civic, and it didn't come with either the owner's manual or the code for the radio. I was just wondering what is the best and cheapest way to get the manual and the code?
Thanks for the help

call the dealership. they might not give it to you, right away. i had to call like 5 different dealerships untill they told me the code. they just want to make sure its not stolen.

i work at honda, so here's my advice:
call parts dept to order a new manual or find one on ebay. If its the EX model, then hell, I'll sell you mine. for the radio code, go into the service dept and have them pull the radio out to get the serial number off the radio and u will most likely have to show proof that the car is yours so dont waste time by trying to do all this over the phone! once they have the serial number they can give you the code.

If you just take out the lower dash panels and use a flashlight and stick your head under the dash you should be able to read the serial # from the radio, sounds silly but is a lot easier than taking the radio out. Then call a dealer with the info and thay will give you the code.

i work in installation at best buy.. all i ever do is call the parts dep. tell them i work for best buy mobile installation and give them the serial #... seconds later i got a code for it.. thats how i got the code for the tyeg radio i just put in my car...
impressive...the best buy thing works. you just have to call a few different ones because some of the dealerships are sticklers about it. i just did it for my gf's integ because the battery had died. saved $5.00 yay
For the owner's manual, the cheapest place is: http://www.books4cars.com
To get the radio code, you will have to go to a Honda dealer. You will either have to pay them to take the radio out, or simply remove it yourself and take the deck, plus the bill of sale for your car, in.
They need the serial number off the top of the readio, and the only way to get to it is to remove the deck.
If you remove it yourself, it should be free. If you have them do it, it will be the cost of labor, or about $65.
I know this because I had to do it.
