NEED help!!! desperate!! Type R dies while driving, #3 spark plug wire popped oFF from distributor cap, I laughed and put it back in and now still does not start!! did spark test.. NO spark!! im taking a apart my distributor right now to test it... I have msd 6al... should i have bought msd blaster coil also?? need advice!! i had a dyno tune appt set up in 2 days!!!
definately check cap and rotor, you don't really need an external coil, but they are nice to complete the package. It may be that the wire was loose for awhile and caused arcing, leading to a small explosion, and removing the plug wire.
Most likely have ignitor bad inside dist. Pull cap off then there is a flat square device inside which is the coil. 2 phillips screws and should pull out. Look at it and you should see some spots on it where it burned up, usually blue color.
thanks for the reply.. just finished testing it... the coil in the distibutor went bad...i had an extra distributor laying around, swapped coils.!!! IT WORKS!!!! I now know why some people zip tie the spark plug wires to the distributor cap.. (to make sure they dont come off with aggresive driving) thanks for the input
