Default Most reliable/daily driveable magical path to 200whp?

It seems for an all-motor setup, 200whp is the magic number for the R (Or, at least from what I've gathered from various posts). Is it possible to hit 200whp while at the still time having a reliable daily driver? I'm under the impression that Skunk Stage1's or Toda A's really kick the **** out of your engine after a while. I'm trying to plan out what I want to do with the R... 200 seems like a good number to shoot for.

What is involved in building up the engine to 200whp? Reliability really is paramount, it's what I love about Honda's so much. If squeezing a little extra juice out of the engine is going to **** that up, then nuts to it. Otherwise what do you guys think? Cams, header, exhaust, cat, higher compression... that puts you pretty close to 200whp, no?

The R currently has an AEM and CAI on it, which I have the understanding are two good things to start out with... Any advice and/or dollar amounts would be appreciated

Go Hytech all around. Properly dyno tuned Toda B's....and you are at it.

I think hp is nothing more than an insignificant number by itself.

Why is 200 whp the number you wish to have? What do you want the car to do?

It is entirely possible to have a reliable, daily drivable, 200 whp motor. It is also possible to have a poorly-running 200 whp hand grenade.

hytech/smsp header
high 11 compression
stock 00+ R cams
maybe some port & polish headwork

light flywheel and lighter wheels

along with some dyno tune time using hondata or other flavor

I have 200whp with skunk 1's and it's super reliable. I daily drive my car through rush hour DC/Va traffic alot and I have 200 on tap. Why wouldn't it be reliable with stage 1's or Toda A's? Specs are close to stock cams.

low expectations 200 is nothing for an R and easily attainable w/ a stock bottom end and a pair of mild cams (i.e. -skunk 2 stage 1)...tuned of course

IMHO, just do all the bolt-on's and some tuning and you're @ ~180whp. That's more than enough for a daily driver and not have to worry about rigorous maintenance schedule.

My picks:
I: Mugen CAI
H: Toda 4-2-1
C: Carsound 54000 series
E: Mugen Twinloop
ECU: Kenji P28
Piggyback: V-AFC (or Hondata if you have tuner near by)

Even without messing w/ camgears, fuel pressure, etc... the above should get you very close to 180whp, if not slightly over.

W/ 180whp, just add Toda fly & clutch + JDM 4.785, then that's more than enough for any application.

If you can get 200hp out of stock cams that would be your most reliable set-up.

Hmm... So this will cost me around 2-4 grand for 200whp? I found a website last night that said a stock ITR with a AEM CAI has 170hp at the wheels, does that sound right?

370cc injectors-hondata (310cc should do the job too), icebox, jdm4-1 header, 63.5mm cat&exhaust, - i was at 176whp

then, added 8.5 lb flywheel

head port-n-polish, cam gears (maybe some stage 1 camshafts), toda header

with good tuner and good tuning system and best header you should be able to hit 200whp on stock or stage 1 cams. you could first see what you can do on stock cams, and then try stage 1 (toda, skunk, whatever)

(theres also test pipe, power steering that could be added to above)

it could cost thousands for me to do these upgrades, and the reason i chose to make more hp.

Or you could just trade your car in on a car that has 200HP from the factory. Thats pretty reliable. w00t

b18c1 and c5's.....about 10-15....200 is just a number...now 240-250whp your talking some serious work and a little less reliabilty....

10-15 over 200whp with the stock bottom end...damn. I can see an overbored 1.8 motor making well over 200 but a 1.8?

is it possible to achieve 200whp with stock internals? i have the basic bolt on's and hondata stage 3 and i'm almost at 180whp. i can imagine it would be very difficult to be near 200whp without more aggressive cams.

Yes it's possible but hard in a 1.8. Bore it out to 2.0 and you can probably do it with R cams. I had 197 with bolt ons and valvetrain with hardly any tuning with Skunk stage 2's. It's possible but the curve sucked compared to my stage 1's. I don't see it as "easily attainable".
