Default Lightened Flywheel

What is everyones opinions on a lightened flywheel? Aftermarket or modified stock? How light to go, for a daily driver. Any input would be appreciated.

Stay far, far away from a lightened stock flywheel. I went through 2 of them in no time. When I removed my one, it had spider cracks all throughout it, granted I was beating on it badly at the track, but this thing looked like it was ready to shatter any day. I think you get what you pay for, pretty much. I have a clutchmasters aluminum one waiting to go on.

yeah, go for aftermarket. Fidanza or Aesco makes a pretty good alum piece.

act=lightened oem=junk

It's ironic how ACT stopped making their flywheels, isn't it? Sure is!

another thing, it's also interesting how Honda states they do_not advise of the lightening of oem flywheels.

Just things that make you go hrmm...............

hmmm....dont even waste your money on a lightened flywheel unless you go turbo. i have a CM light FW and I hate it. they just help you rev faster, and your revs drop just as fast.
in THEORY, a flywheel would benefit you alot, but in reality, they suck severely.

How about Jun? The regular light weight one, not the ultra light weight.

ive found that lightened flywheels only really benefit acceleration below VTEC. It gives better throttal response but in all out acceleration it really doesn't provide any benefit at all....from my experience only. I had the ACT, still do, just not on my new Lude. It didn't help me to pull on my friends in a race or anything.

Jun makes pretty good stuff, and its chromoly not aluminum, which is stronger, but they make their pieces for jdm preludes, which have diffrent starters. So if you use a jun FW, you might get a grinding sound once every blue moon. It may not sound like much but over time I'd suspect it could get problematic.

Doesn't make sense to me either. But its just what I heard from several sources - they could be wrong though. Personally I'll just stick with aluminum.

JUN flywheels have a straight cut on the starter ring gear the stock (and most aftermarket) have a bevel cut in to them. You can adapt the JUN one but why bother?

i have the 12lb jun flywheel and i love it. got it for about 4 bills. the h22 likes to rev and wait to come down. this really takes care of that problem. just if your iacv is bad, i don't recommend it.

JDM and USDM starters are functionally identical.
