Default Mugen Thermostat

I think its about that time for a new thermo. Is it The Mugen piece worth the upgrade, or should I just hit up Napa for there six dollar piece??? Any help/info from those that have used them or know about them will help alot...

Also Living in the midwest with sometimes brutal winters, how would the Mugen piece effect my temps in the winter? I know it would help in the summer, but Im worried about now.

TIA

Get the NAPA one unless you take you car to the track and drive at WOT for more than 10 minutes.

Thats just it, come next spring or summer I'll be trying to get at least 4-5 lapping events in, and some auto-xing. The thing Im really worried about is the winter temps here and having the Mugen piece. But I think I'll just go with the Napa piece for now.

Thanks y0.

I too have the mugen thermostat and fan switch. And my car still acts like stock when I'm driving around and it's 30 degrees out.

... if your going to go cheap, go with the $10 160 degree from Jackson... I can't remember what part number is to pick it up at your local stop and rob parts store, but works great on the SC GSR I have... Probably use the same on the R when I get around to it...

I didn't tell J it was a problem, just that it took longer to get up to operating temperature and full heat from the heater.

I get full heat from the heater just as fast as before, and the oil reaches normal operating temp just like before too.
