Need help with b16 oil leak (already) :(
For some reason I have an oil leak starting. The car has only been driven about 1/2 a mile. Started her up today to make sure I got my coolant leak fixed and noticed some oil coming out right above the B16a stamp between the head and block. I've seen alot of Honda motors leak here, but not as much as mine seems to be. I had the head redone by Honda (they farm them out), and resurfaced also.
Would re-torquing the head bolts do anything in this case?
Seems like one thing afther the other so far...
Coolant leak (fixed)
VSS disconnected from behind the speedometer
No Vtec
Temp sender acting up
I could spend hours!!
Oh well it will be worth it though right?
Thanks for any help in advance. Its very appreciated

Yeah..how is this fixed?
Every single Honda I've ever known leaks here, and I've never known what to do about it.
It's more irritating than anything. It makes me think something's 'wrong'.

I havent even reved it over 6k yet.
Once again thanks for any help

start with the simple stuff... honda did some headwork, did you use a new headgasket? how many times have the headbolts been reused?
as far as that specific leak being common, it is only when the headgasket is incorectly installed or blown

Check your vtec oil pressure switch and solenoid; it could be leaking from there and coming down. Also your exhaust cam seal on the left side of the head.

I did re-use the headbolts, so would re-torquing be bad? If I do buy new bolts, do I need a new headgasket also? This one doesent even have a mile on it

that's more work & money. since the head was resurfaced, it should not leak unless it wasn't torque well enough, or wasn't done in proper torque sequence, stretch head bolts, or a warp block.
you're not the only one, mines is doing that too, leaking in the same area.

You know what , some manufacturer's recommend retorqing head bolts after so many miles. I just put a single cam head on and leaks in the same area. So then I retorqued the head bolts 10 ft lbs. more than factory specifications. That solved my problem.

guys, i went through the exact same thing. in my first gen B16 i changed the vtec solenoid gasket, then developed a HUGE leak which appeared to be coming from around the head gasket. guess what..it's actually coming from the vtec solenoid. get a flashlight and look just under the solenoid and start the car up..you'll see the oil dripping down. you can either get a USDM vtec solenoid where the gasket will fit correctly or use high temp silicone to seal around the gasket.
i changed all the gaskets in the vtec solenoid twice, and its still leaking! not extremely bad though. i guess i'll just try to replace to whole assembly ans see what happens
Hey I IM'd you on this...
I replaced the V-tec solenoid gasket with a 94 del sol one and it seemed to fit fine. I did have to fit it in a little more than say an oil pump gasket. I think maybe your right though. I looked a little closer and there is oil below the solenoid. I might retorque (or check) my head bolts for the F of it.
Thanks for all the help, and anymore ideas

Some HondaBond on that gasket wouldn't hurt.
Speedo cable will be here wednesday, cant wait to hit v-tec. Had this swap in for two weeks and havent been able to yet

Thanks again for all the help
