Default battery relocation to where resonator sits - questions

i saw someone relocate their battery to where the air intake resonator usually sits, behind the passenger side bumper. i'm thinking about doing this since moving to the back of the car seems like a pita and expensive. if i keep my inner splash guards in place, how much do i have to worry about getting the battery wet? can i just splice more cable into the battery leads to make then reach that far? could i use a sealed box down there to protect the battery from the elements?

I would still recomend moving battery to the back, it makes for ALLOT more space in under the hood for all those air intakes we know and love, plus dont forget you are moving more of the wight to the back of the car so you are closer to that 50/50 weight ratio. I moved mine to the back for less that 100 bucks. YOu just have to shop around, I went to the hardware store. If you do move it somewhere else in the front, make damn sure you protect it from moving parts on the engine, and water ect, and if you splice some wires, do a good job on it, with the proper electrical tools. Wherever you put it remeber you DONT want current going throught anything under there. it can really screw things up.

my only problem with this would be in a crash, that battery is liable to burst open and ignite. Batteries can do all sorts of weird things, a battery was the reason my fathers old skool sunbird caught on fire. Even if its sealed i can easily see it being torn open by a front impact.
