Just tested my TPS:

0.68v at closed throttle
4.70v at WOT

It is suppose to be around .45v closed and 4.45 open...right?

Now how do I change the voltage? Thanks ahead of time...

EDIT: This is what has been causing my idle problem I believe. So I would like to resolve this ASAP!

OK. I did it. All my idle problems are fixed.

I will post how to do it for those who encountered the same problem, or are just wondering how to adjust the TPS. Its obvious that some don't know, judging from the 65+ views and no answers...

How to adjust your TPS if it is reading incorrect voltage:

-Get a volt meter, digital or analog.
-loosen screws that attach TPS to TB. (you may need to take a dremel and make a slot in each screw for a flathead, because USDM TB's have breakaway bolts instead of torque spit bolts)
-turn key to ignition.
-attach voltmeter to middle PIN on the harness and slowly rotate the TPS until the desired voltage is reached. (in this case, between 0.45-0.50 volts)
-tighten down screws finger tight and test for correct voltage at 0 throttle and at WOT (WOT = 4.45 or higher).
-if voltage is correct, tighten down screws, but not too tight or you will crack your TPS.
-turn on car and you should have a perfectly working TPS. You may need to readjust your idle if you messed with it while trying to figure out your original problem, like me.

This method saves the hassle of taking off the TB (not much of a hassle...but ya).

Hope this comes in handy when the good 'ole search button is used.

I don't understand exactly how I measure the volts.

Which, of the 3 pins on the TPS, do I need to measure between?

The middle pin. The other side grounds to the chassis somewhere.

 

Wow, old thread. Anyway, if you are running EMS you don't have to adjust it all. Just set your closed and open TPS voltages in the ECU and you're done. Pompiuses, I don't know what ECU you are running.

Basically. I was trying to figure out why it would idle high, even though the adjust screw was completely closed.

A hunting idle is harder to diagnose, but checking the TPS voltage is easy.

 

I'm facing this problem with my rev being at 1500rpm when I clutch in before coming to a complete stop at the lights. I have to blip the throttle to about 2000rpm before it drops to 1000rpm and stabilises. I have used a carb. spray on the venturi and some lubricant on the throttle spring. No improvements. Could this be TPS volatage too?
