because I value your opinion.....
I've never done a rebuild before, so I can't help you on detailed stuff like that.
But, while you've got everything apart, you might as well replace the pistons with D16A1 pistons! (88-89 teg, DOHC model) This will increase your compression one whole point. So it will be at 10.2:1, also putting on a z6 headgasket will increase the compression a tiny bit more - but the z6 heagasket is stronger and will last longer than the A6 headgasket....
Not sure if I helped any....
Good Luck!

Im currently rebuilding the lower end of an A6 right now... You wont get more miles or better gas malage out of ANY other motor. Do a search at http://www.google.com for majestic honda, you should get good prices there.
anyone know where I can pick up the A1 pistons? also, will they work with stock bore? how about if the machine shop needs to over bore?

As far as i know you can put LS rods in there....works in the ZC and they are almost identical on the bottom end. It wont help too much right off but if you ever decide to go turbo or N2O youll have the reassurance that youre car wont blow up. Hope this helped.

I might as well say this on this thread, so people don't have to go to the other one:
I'm rebuilding a D16A6, This is my first Honda rebuild although I have assisted in many Chevy V-8 rebuilds.
My top priority is reliability
My second priority is low cost
Performance only comes if it doesn't interfere with #1 & #2
As far as OEM or aftermarket, I'm open for input
