Default finished my ITR dash swap (lots of pictures)

I finally got around to finishing up my ITR dash swap....thought you guys would like to see some pictures.

I really want to get my del Sol seats re-done. When i got them the guy i bought them from said they had RED strips but i got them with GREEN!! Also they look like they have some stains on them...but i was cleaing them thats why they look like that.

Im still missing a right AIR BAG cover...its like $90 from jdmhondaparts and has been low on the list of things. And i need the cover which goes under the streering wheel (connects to the dash). Ah the little things.

If you are wondering how i got the door panels to fit, i used a torch and heated up the back of the door panels so they were all gluey, then i quickly installed the door panels and closed the door...it molded perfect when it cooled.

comments are welcome! Oh and i did this because after 200k miles of looking at my old dash..i wanted something new.

that looks freaking awesome. How much modification did you have to do to the dash to get it to fit and how much on the door panels. i just want this to be for future reference cause this gets asked like every week.

Oh yeah, what about the wiring and how much did it run you. Killer job on the door panels man, i would have never though about doing that.

a little hard to tell for sure, the pictures I can see, everything really blends (probably because it's all black) My eyes are probably fried though, I have been in front of the computer all day so if the pictures are good excuse my eyes and shoot me later.

EDIT: now I feel like a f---ing ***, there is a crap load more pictures. How come at work on a T1 connection I couldn't get all the pictures but at home on this POS 56k I do

As far as mods to the dash...there is two ways to install it.

You will need to remove the civic steering column dash support (which is tap welded to wirewall) and then weld/bolt on the teg steering column. This is the best way to do as the dash then fits much better.

The other way is to cut a little bit of the dash so it clears the civic steering column dash support. Its a tight fit though!! You really have to push the gauge cluster in there to get it to fit. And even then it doesnt fit perfect on the drivers side.

I did it the easier way and modified the dash to fit. I wasnt about to do cutting on my car.

Here is some pictures of how you are supposted to do it...

You can see they cut off the civic one..and screwed on the teg one. (this isnt my car its a friends)

Here is what the civic column looks like...notice the dash mount is higher...you need to cut the bottom of the teg dash so it fits. (this is my car)

You are going to have to use the teg dash mounts..they dont really fit right so you have to do a little fab work...

(here is my car with the teg dash mounts and my fab work to make them work)

You are going to have to use the teg heater core and the teg fan blower. You can use the civic or the teg a/c unit as they are the same. EVerything else bolts to the stock locations. The heater core and fan unit all connect and bolt to the stock locations.

Now as for the wiring...its not that hard. Im using the stock civic wiring. It plugs into the teg fan and the teg climate control just like stock.

Things you have to wire are: gauge cluster (this was the hardest part), rear defrost, hazard switch, and the clock. The teg hazard switch plugs into the civic wiring..but the pins are all wrong and wont work.

And then the stock door panels dont fit. As i said above..i used a torch to heat up the back of the door panels..so they were all gluey and easy to bend. Then i installed the door panels and closed to the door. They molded to the right shape and once cool (took about 3-4mins) then were hard again.

I do have the teg door panels...but to use them i would have had to convert to auto windows and auto door locks and stuff. Also the door handles are in a different place...there was alot of work involved. Not to mention the door panels arent long enough (the civic ones are longer) and they are also too tall. The best way is to cut and glue on parts of the teg door panels and then have them recovered. But my way works pretty good.

Its a far amount of work...im not going to lie.

If this scares you...dont do it..

Very nice car, man. I like that dash.

I noticed you have a black bumper and you live in San Diego... I live in SD too and I have a red bumper for that car w/ OEM foglights that is just taking up space... I don't need it. If you want it, it's yours.
