how important to resize rod when installing arp rod bolts?
i installed some new arp bolts on my ls bottom end..i just torqued it down to the required torque spec. directions says it recommends that we resize the rod. i didnt...how important is this step? u guys think id be ok? thanx
I don't see any point in resizing the rod unless it was out of round, and if it was you'd be hearing things to begin with.
Sometimes when you press the new bolt in, it distorts the big end and you have to resize. Need to check roundness after installing the new bolt.
I guarentee you that the ARP rod bolts distorted your rods. If you are going to take the time to build a motor, do it right. Take them to the machine shop and get the resized....my LS rods were all out of round when I got ARP rod bolts installed, but all it takes is a little machine work.
Yup.. we resize everytime the rod bolts are upgraded.. not worth it to save a few bucks when you are at that stage.
