Default My camber kit problems....Pics

Here are the pics of my camber kit issues:
This pic is the passenger rear camber kit (it is supposed to be straight).
Not a very high quality product.(I bought it before I was on H-T and found out about the washer trick)

This is the driver's side. This broke coming off of a highway that was being paved and the construction workers figured that scuffing the asphalt up to the on ramp was sufficient. There was about a 2 inch lip (small curblike) on the exit ramp instead of smoothing it down.I actually drove on this for a week (including a high speed trek to Columbus) until I backed out of a parking space and my tire went AWOL.

These pics are from the front just recently. Due to the camber kit pushing the upper control arms out and hitting the body of the car, the driver's side control arm was stuck above the lip of the body.(when I jacked the car up the tire stayed up too)Well when I pulled out of my driveway and started to go forward, the lower ball-joint pulled out of the control arm and you can see the damage here. These pics were taken with the steering wheel straight.

As you can see, it tore the axle apart at the CV joint at the tranny.

Get Ingalls if you want to get a camber kit.

Dont get a camber kit, make sure your toe is in check and give your car a functional suspension. Too many people slame their car, slap on a camber kit and break stuff. Some negative camber is supposed to be a benefit of lowering a car.

So the negative camber is ok as long as the toe is in specs? I'm just wondering because my tires wear out on the inside too quick. Even if I rotate them they still will wear out fast. Yoko Parada Spec 2s are only supposed to roll one way (not quite uni-directional, just one way faces out on the tire) so I can't just dismount and turn them around...

that really sucks man!!! Thank <your person of chois> you wernt going fast when it happened.

heh.. well I mean i ran 18's slammed for the longest ... used washers on the rear and bent the arms up front. and yah now days thats a big nono, but back in 1996 wtf could you do? bottom side to that was last year i had to find stock **** when i put 14" steelies on.

one thing a friend of mine does (and this might be unreccomended too for all i know on unidirectional radials) is rotate front -> back and side -> side (by actually removing the tire from the wheel).

maybe someone else here can shed light on this.. I just got used to it and went front -> back to make them last long as i could with my old 18's. ... just something you get used to i guess.

edit: ps i dont know yoko's but are those a pretty soft tire??? I ran Toyo Proxies and got about 15-18k miles per set.

Yeah could you imagine if this would have happened on the highway? I usually go around 80 MPH or so. When it happenened the car's bottom was literally on the ground. I had to jack it up from inside the wheel well and get another jack around the front just to get the tow truck lifts under it (on a busy road). The tow guy charged me 45 bucks to lift it up the driveway and back it into my garage (I was pulling out of my drive). And all I heard was a horrible scraping and screeching as my exhaust and various parts carved ruts in my concrete driveway (steep drive)
I just felt sick afterwards....
Oh and yes those parada's are soft and sticky...

How do you use washers to help with camber problems. my friend needs to do this on his 97 civic 4-door.

You can get them to unmount the front driver side tire and put it on the rear passenger side wheel and vice versa.
