cometic head gaskets are poop!
fuggin thing blew after 7000kms
it's an 84.5mm cometic head gasket BTW...only reason why I bought it s because Honda was backordered for the OEM CRV head gasket.
when I first instaled it the fitment was **** as well, I'm not surprised i let go so soon.
from now on, stricktly OEM gaskets!
I'll post pics of the cometic gasket as soon as I pull the head off....
BTW, this head gasket was used on my cr/vtec and is supposedly "designed" for the frankenstien motor
it actually looked like a B18C head gasket with bigger bore...evenhad the hole for the internal oil feed in it. Oh well, a lesson well learned.

are you sure it was something wrong with the headgasket that caused it to blow?
i run a cometic on my b20 and everything is fine.
is your car detonating at all? did you check your plugs?

cosmetic gaskets suck i've had too many problems on quads and dirt bikes to even think about using it on my cars....last time i talked to vince @ http://www.goldeneaglemfg.com he said they have oem gaskets punched out for larger bores vtec and non vtec!!
You probably got the wrong gasket.
I havent had any problems with cometic so far.
and as far as boring out stock gaskets, you really cant do that because the
sealing ring isnt far enough out to support that large of a bore.

Camille, did you end up going to the track with the motor untuned? I hope you didn't push the motor because you were detonating above 6500RPM...
Tony, I did go to cayuga dragway...just cause I couldn't wait
but I backed off the timing LARGE and upped the fuel pressure..didn't seem like I had any more detonation at all...felt like I lost a **** load of power though but still ended up joining the 13 second club
my cousins straight B20B hatch is now also a 13 second car
...now I just hope I didn't contaminate the bearings or anything
SGT: the gasket I got said B18B/B20B with vtec head 84.5mm
I'm sure it was the right one. I'm never using it again however

I have installed dozens of Cometic gaskets and have never had a problem.
what was the warpage on your deck and head. do you have a straight edge and some feeler gauges? I would check the basics first.
My buddies 85mm 245 whp na gsr motor uses one no prob.
