Default how much power loss with no knock sensor?

i understand that without a knock sensor, the timing gets retarded by 2-3 degrees... correct?

how much power am i losing, especially in the low end?

dont worry, i'm replacing the knock sensor soon.. just wondering.

I thought racing computers like spoon and mugen, disable the knock sensor.

I think retarded timing hurts high end not low end.

Can't be but a couple of HP

throwing knock code will put you ecu into a type of safty mode in which it retards the timing! i know, my car ran like poop when i throw code! so i just got a chiped ecu from kenji and it soled that problem! who needs a knock sensor anywho? good luck, eric

exactly, thats where i'm at right now. again, i'm putting a new one in soon. i was just wondering how much power (estimated, or dyno proven) was lost.

Not sure how much this has to do with your problem, but I saw a dyno of an ITR running premium vs. regular octane gas. With premium it made about 160whp like normal but with regular octane the knock sensor did activate and the car only dynoed about 140whp with a more more jagged curve. I wish I would have saved this dyno on my hard drive as I can't find it again but it shows what the knock sensor can do to the engine's power output.
