Default hot tank a stock block?

My local tuning shop said that the machine shop that will be honing, decking my block, etc.. and will also hot tank it, isn't that bad for stock aluminum sleeves because of the intense heat? Seems like I could end up spending a few bucks on something that could potentially hurt my engine... I'm running a B18B BTW. Any opinions?

i know lots of people that have hot tanked theyre blocks and heads, never heard it was bad, more than the heat is the chemicals that clean it up. i'm sure if theyre doing all that work and theyre experienced then they would know if it was bad.

A true hot tank cannot be done to aluminum. a steam tank with degreaser is what most shops use nowadays. Most shops refer to a steam tank as a hot tank now.
