Default Head swap on D15Z1

I have been searching all around for info on mini me swaps and I cant find much about using this block. It is in my VX hatch right now.

I was wondering if I could just use the D16Z6 head, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold for this conversion. Will everything just bold up? Do I need a timing belt off the Z6 if I am using my stock water pump? Will the stock ECU work until I get an ECU out of a 92-95 Si?

Thanks.

Yes they will bolt right up....you don't even need to use the Z6 Exhaut manifold.

Timing belt. I am unsure...I haven't bothered looking at Mini's but, ECU you will want a P28 ECU. OBDI plug and play for VTEC engines with performance in mind. YOur VX ecu is VTEC as well however, the fuel maps suck *****.

Thanks man. If I need a timing belt, they are only like 20 bucks anyway.

Anyone know the compression on this setup? I was thinking about running 2 head gaskets if it is too high for street use.

Z6 head swap will work, use the P 28 ECU.

Compression will be high 7's to low 8's.

REALLY low!!!!!!!!!!!!

nope. z1 uses 137mm rods with 'shorter pistons'. while all other d15bs (of course with exception of the JDM sohc vtec d15b) run with 134mm rods.

if anything run PM6 or P28 pistons, that should work much better

mini me on a vx block really isnt worth it, better off finding an a6 or another 1.6 block and building mini me with them, the z1 has too low of compression
