I can guarantee you didn't search. I just answered like 4 of these not a week ago.
No CEL = the cluster is busted, replace the circuit board on the back of the speedo itself
CEL = VSS is busted, replace it

cel is not on so its the cluster? what if i just replace the speed sensor?
i'm sorry if i didnt use the right words to search for this.
on honda parts i saw only 2 parts that might be related..
so i called one of my guys and was told its the speed sensor, it cost 106 for the part then he told me he'll charge 40 for his labor....
can anyone confirm this?
also what is the circuit board? and how much? can i see a diagram or part number so i can look it up? thanks

the cluster is the whole set?
is the speed sensor included in the cluster?
if i get the speed sensor installed will this solve it or it has to be the cluster ?
i would apriciate more help thanks

40 labor

Speed Sensor = VSS, if it is not working it will throw a CEL.
Without a CEL it's the cluster itself, buy one on ebay for ~50 and then swap it in yourself. The speed sensor will not fix the problem.
The cluster removal thread that I made and someone else added pics to is what you'll need to follow once you get a working cluster.

thank you yeah it does not throw a cel so the reason why is the cluster it is because of the circuit board?
whats the proper word or item number?
just cluster?
i typed in cluster on the search and could not find such thread can you link? thanks again

do you mean this thread? if so do i have to remove all the way down from the glove box to the cluster? If so this is beyond my expections, if my guy does this for 40 i'll let him do it, granted he said he put the speed sensor for 40.... is it the same work????

also you said on one of this threads that if i try to engage cruise control and if it works then it is the cluster?
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1987247
also the step from the glove box and up is for climate control,
but cant i just try to remove the cluster with this method?

Dude, seriously, read.
That thread is how to remove the cluster, the led auto post you've made is the very last portion of the removal.
And the speedo, like said before, buy a working cluster for about $50 and remove the speedo portion, what you linked to may or may not have that circuit board you need.

i had this same problem in a 1996 and it is either the main board on the back of the whole cluster or it is a small board on the back of the speedo/odo unit.....its one or the other....the easier one of the 2 to replace is the smaller one as it just pushes into the back of the unit so i would start with that one...o and if its been giving you trobule for that long how can you know itt has 230k on it as the odometer would probably not work either

to get to the cluster to remove it you must take the center console out of the car to do so the cup holder must be take out to access two of the bolts....start from the back of the center console working your way toward the front .....the glove box does not need to be removed however it will need to be dropped to access one of the screws....to drop the glove box take the rubber stopped off that stops it when opening and it will swing free(make sure you empty it first)....after this you will need to work your way up toward the climate controls...i forget exactly how many screws there were but it should be like 2 in the center console (under an access panel), 1 on each side of the console next to the seats, 2 in the cup holder, after this you will need to pull the ebrake up and removed the back portion of the console and there will be 2 or so screws right at the back of the shifter assembly, i believe you can leave the radio where it is and still ac cess the 2 screws that are holding the bezel to the cluster in they will be just under climate controls inside the dash, after this you will need to pop out the dimmer switch and the cruise control switches and remove the wires....behind each 1 is one screw, there are also 2 screws just above the cluster(just feel around on the top part of the bezel right above where you would look at the gauges, after this carefully remove the wiring from the climate control module as you will need to swing it...you can leave the cables on the mechanical part of it or take them off thats up to you ive done it both ways...the cluster is held in by 4 screws(2 under it and 2 on the side) after that the cluster will come out(it may or may not require some nudging around to get it to come free) disconnect the electrical connectors and you can service the cluster or replace it

OLD thread sorry but i found out that i have a P0725 code speed sensor maltfunction. so i need to replace the speed sensor dont know the location well theirs 2 slots but dont know which is which...?
On the V6 I'm not entirely sure, on the 4cyl it is right on top of the transmission towards the back side, below the TB area. (remove air intake to see it)
It should be around that area though.
