Default Question about valve adjustment procedure

I noticed to different instructions on to where the feeler gauges are to be poistioned. On C-Speed.com it was between the cam lobe and lifter, on Bseries.net the feeler guage seemed to be between the valve retainer and the jamnut. Anyone with info? I might be doing this on my own and would like some info to help me out. I will have a helms manual also.

All the times I've done it/seen it done it was between the cam lobe and lifter. Pretty sure that's what it shows in the helms, too.

I'll gladly verify the procedure - the last thing on bseries we want to do is give out bad info! For what it's worth - I've done the adjustments on all my Honda's the same way (including my R that now has 91,000 miles running hard!!). So don't get too worried that your motor will fall apart doing it the other way.

I'll post what I find & correct any mistakes as quickly as I can.

you will be WAY off if you are on the valve stem
Factory specs state the valve lash should be measured
betweeen the rocker and the lobe. The rocker arm ratio is
around 1.55:1 so unless you factor that into your lash
adjustment you are gonna be off.

I will do this by my own in the near future too.

Well, I never cease to amaze myself as to how little I know. At least I don't mind admitting I'm wrong

I think I'll be doing a few free valve jobs in the near future

I believe on the D series motors you adjust just under the jam nut. At least that's what I remember doing... I don't know if it's right. When I got the R I was very worried cuz I couldn't reach under the jam nut with my feeler gauges, so I just measured between the lifter and cam lobe. I assume that's the right way to do it.
