catastrophy at first start up
well ive been working on my car for quite a while now trying to finish it. the car is a 92 cx hb with a built b16 turbo. to make a long story short i went to start the car for the first time and it was cranking over but then the lights sorta dimmed on the gauge cluster and i stopped. my friend started yelling so i jumped out and saw that the hard line for clutch fluid that goes to the slave cyinder was BRIGHT orange and started melting. then i accidently hit the oil line and it arked off the block. i have no idea wut happend. i noticed soon after that i did not have the ground from the valve cover attached and my tranny ground wasnt all the way bolted down. could this have caused that? was the motor grounding out where ever possible and this is wut happend?
nope sounds like there is a "hot" wire touching your hard line. seems like your whole motor is just one big hot wire. take your time and grow your all your wiring to make sure you don't have a power wire touching somewhere
connect the tranny ground, I forgot one time and my feed line arked on a valve cover nut and it put a hole in it. So just make sure all the grounds are tight and the 2 power wires like tony said arnt contacting anything their not supose too.

Yeah get your grounds sorted and it will be fine. I had the same problem (tranny ground wasn't bolted up) and the engine melted my oil feed line lol
if you didnt have grounds attached it could be pulling high amp draw through what ever it can find ground through, or you have a short from a big positive source to the clutch line. look at the starter and alternator wires, the big ones, and for ***** sake wire that thing right!... messing with ya it happens go over everything carefully it will be ok.

how would the car sound if this was happening? as if it barely had enough power to start?
