Default Rear Brake Caliper Piston Came Apart While Driving. No Brakes while Driving!

My integra chassis has 130K on it and as I was driving I heard some weird noises coming from the driver rear wheel. I stop and this is what I see:

Luckily I was driving in 2nd gear and was close to home. Not sure if it was a faulty part or if it went bad due to mileage.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Anyone know why this would happen?

Did the caliper pins shear or did the mounting bracket fracture?

I have no clue. I'm going to have to take it apart sometime this week.

I'm thinking that it might be worse than it looks cause the caliper itself is not situated where it normal sits (around the rotor).

I would have to say that the slider pins (19 and 34) came out or sheared since the bracket looks to be in the correct location.

Yea.. i have to agree that the #19 and #34 are probably not going to be there.

Any idea how this could have happened?
