Default Wipers working backwards, hitting wiper cowl instead of going up

So I have a '98 Civic EX and it had the luck of being one of the 1998s covered by the wiper TSB.

So today I got a new wiper motor in and Eran and I installed it. Everything went smoothly save for a stuck clip. We put it all back together, taking care to place the linkage in the same location as it was originally.

So we tried the wipers on the lowest setting. They made a clunk sound.

The wipers are trying to cycle the wrong way. Somehow they're trying to go counterclockwise instead of clockwise.

I live in Washington and driving with RainX and no wipers is proving to be a hazard. Please help if you can.

The only other thread with any information, but the OP never said how it was fixed, if it was.

one of two things, something went wrong with the install. (mechanically or electrically)
or you simply need to adjust the wiper arm position.

They're rotating backwards, wiper arms or not. It has nothing to do with that. And there's nothing electrically wrong, it's a 5-pin plug that can only be plugged in one way.

I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is, and it's the position of a small arm that attaches the linkage and the motor. Now the problem is yanking all that **** back apart, and fixing it.

And it's fixed. I just had to toy with the connecting arm and do some test ON/OFF until it was parked in the right position.

Though I don't believe the TSB mentions it, anyone who needs to swap out the motor or remove the linkage or whatever, might want to use a Sharpie to mark so the spindle matches up.
