Help, wipers?

Help, wipers?
I just bought a 98 ek, the wipers work but when I turn them off they dont go back, or in other words all the way down. You always have to time it right when you want them off and in the correct spot. Does anyone have a fix on this?

It's not supposed to work this way. There is a factory service bulletin out about this.
The problem is the return switch within the motor has broken. The way to fix it is to replace the motor.
I had the same problem in my '98 EX also.
Remove the wipers by removing the nut on the end, prop the wiper up and rock the wiper arm off.
Remove the wiper cowl. The middle clip is the most difficult to remove and might need to be replaced.
Unbolt the wiper motor and linkage.
Remove the wiper linkage and motor from the car in one piece.
Mark where the motor and linkage match up.
Remove the motor from the linkage (forget how it came off... bolts I suppose).
Installation is the reverse.
If you put it all back together and the wipers wiper backwards (down, then up, instead of up then back down), then the linkage and motor are matched up backwards. This is why you mark them.

Re: FV-QR (NOFX)
I was just gonna post a thread about this.
Where can you get a new wiper motor? Will they be available at any auto parts store? Do you have to go through OEM Honda?

You're welcome.

New will probably have to be dealer. I'm sure you could find plenty of rebuilds, but I don't know the pricing off hand for them from local auto parts stores. Probably too much imo.
I replaced mine at least a year ago... maybe more, and haven't had any issue with the used one. I believe mine is from a 2000 (the auction told me). Just make sure it's not a '98-'99 and you should be okay.
