Default 2-1/2" Stainless Steel Cat Back Group Buy Details

OK guys this is what I have to offer. It is still a kit but there are only 3 pieces of tubing now versus my old kit that was built from multiple mandrel bends. The tubing sections will need to be cut to length. By doing this the system can be used for just about any 92-00 Civic or 94-00 Integra.

The kit will consist of
1. All tubing to be 2.50" OD 18g 304L Stainless, approx 2.4" ID
2. First half of B pipe in front of the resonator with the (2) offset bends and the inlet flared to a minimum od 2-1/2" to match the outlet of 2-1/2" cats, 3 bolt flange tig welded.
3. Either a 22" long aluminized Magnaflow resonator (quietest) or 14" long stainless steel body
4. Second half of B pipe follows the stock layout, i.e. (1) 90 degree bend after the resonator and then (2) 45 degree bends around the gas tank.
5. Axle back tubing
6. 4x9 Magnaflow muffler in aluminized or stainless steel body
7. 3" or 3-1/2" polished tip

The kit also includes all the hangers, flanges, gaskets and hardware needed. The axle back to B pipe joint can either be made for a slip joint or flange joint. You would just need to spec that so I could set the kit up properly.

I'm still waiting on pricing for the tips so the prices below are subject to change.

System Prices

w/ 22" Resonator and Aluminized Muffler (Painted black looks stealth) $625
w/ 22" Resonator and Stainless Muffler $660
w/ 14" Stainless Resonator and Stainless Muffler $675

If you decide to purchase a cat also, the prices are as follows, (please note these prices are only good if purchased with the above system).

2-1/4" or 2-1/2" OBDI (no bungs) $125
2-1/4" or 2-1/2" OBDII $145
2-1/4" OBDII (Early GSR w/ 2bungs) $165

These systems could be ready in 4 weeks, but I will need 20 orders to make it happen.

This system has proved to make useable power. It is essentially the same system that was used for the great header test last December except this is 18g (.049" wall) versus the test system's 16g (.065"). The system is currently supporting a street driven B20VTEC that puts out 230+ whp. The system has NO bottle necks that most of the other system out there do. Plus it is quieter than most of them.

Here is an audio clip from the header test with my header, test pipe and this exhaust set up. Please remember that it was recorded in an enclosed shop and the faint whining noise is actually the Mustang dyno.

There is some more discussion on the exhaust here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=200438

I still plan to build a bolt on cat back system but mine will most likely be from 16g material and probably won't be available to late this year.

no offense but wouldnt a pre-built cat-back from thermal r&d be cheaper? we gotta make our own exhaust and pay $100 more for the pieces and how much would it cost to assemble/weld... more money on top of that. this is a group buy? so what would the normal pricing be?

not trying to make anyone look bad but im just trying to reason...

So, is the exhaust for JDM headers or SMSP headers since they are different in length.

It's set up for having the B pipe flange in the stock location. Since it's cut to fit it should work with any header.

I understand the difference of the materials, what I don't understand why the differences, is it weigth or performance?

What kind of gains could I see for a 98 ITR with JDM 4-1 and carsound Cat?
I am interested but can't decide wether I should go for it or wait.

Thanks

The only difference in the muffler or resonator is the outer body. One being aluminized steel and the other polished stainless. The gutts of the pieces and the internal tubing are both the same so it just comes down to a personal preference off what you like to look at. The longer resonators are not available in stainless. They will be no performance advantage of going with one set up versus the other. The longer resonator will be quieter though.

As for gains, here is a link to one customer's results with the set up you ask about.
